Title says it all. Where do you go to pop off a few rounds? Years ago I used to go to a place in Oregon City called Bullfrog Park but I don't know if they are still around or not. I am not opposed to joining a range but I'd really prefer the great outdoors and not have to drive for an hour to get there.

Slab camp road off the Tailor Cutoff road. There is 2-3 different spots to choose from
One of the locals took a dozer up there and fixed up the berm. Then the chain gang went thru and picked up the garbage.
Just have to watch out for nails from the pallet fires.

Definitely more than an hour's drive for me but I appreciate the response.

Do any indoor ranges allow rifle ammo?

Last indoor range I shot in does, they have a separate pistol & rifle range area. Still I think the Rifle range was only 50 yrds max

I second the out the door method. I've got a nice little 80 yard range I setup with a tall dirt terrace backdrop in the woods. I don't shoot a ton here out of respect to neighbors. Otherwise I go up the logging road right up the street to a gravel pit to shoot a bunch of rounds.

Well most times I go out to my 300 yard range in my back yard,

Sometimes I just shoot from my living room out the window.

Was that recently? I haven't been up to any of the three places for a couple of months now. I try to pick up a bucket or two of old hulls and other what-not but it seems like a losing battle. The FS ringed the big pit up on top with boulders but that was a couple of years ago to keep the kids from burning cars there.

If you go up slab camp, you get to a "Y" take the left (stay on main road) then go a little further. There is a road to the right at a 90* (the "Y" is a loop that comes out here). There are some little 4X4 hills there. Just turn there and the spot is on the right.
The road in is 100yds from the berm.Again, watch for nails everywhere.
It is the hot spot,so weekends will be busy. The spot you are speaking of is farther down the road.

15 minutes from my house. (river road)
