In a way yes. Like I said I have alot to learn!

I think NWFA has done alot to help me with my views and understanding.

I do think though, that Politics and Gun Rights go hand in hand.

Its hard for you to have gun rights without it.

I recommend 2 books to read to give you some insight on trends and time range.

I agree, self preservation should be first. But how much harder is it for you when the laws of the land say you CANT protect yourself. Oops cant instead of can.

But those laws are the result of politics trying to take that right away. Without politics those laws wouldn't have existed in the first place.

We in the US simply got lucky when our founding fathers agreed to put together a bill of rights that enumerated some of our rights, including the right to arms.

Its still hard for my to fathom that I live in a city that want even let me carry a loaded magazine to put in to my empty gun to protect my family and myself.

if laws like that law continue to pass, then where are we headed could become pretty bad.

Just get you CHL and it all goes away :s0155:.

I still have faith that there are people who want to do the right thing for other people. Who want to pass laws that will actually help, not hinder.

Then you are far less cynical than I :).

Whenever someone proposes a new gun law that will make it 'all better', I come back to my counter argument, "42,000 gun laws in this country haven't fixed the problem, why do you believe 42,001 will be the magic number?"

(I heard somewhere 42,000 specific gun laws exist in the US. Can anyone substantiate that, or offer a better number?)

Regarding the video in the OP. That thing is sooo incorrect it's not even funny. We may indeed be headed toward some sort of Oligarchy or other repressive government, but that guy completely oversimplified so many different things to fit his argument. And to compare the development of Roman government to American government today is just absurd. You can't compare the two. That's just one glaring deficiency.

I agree that we have been slowly moving away from the Republic we now have, but it's not because we are becoming a democracy, it's because the people that have power are consolidating theirs while taking away the power of others.

It just kinda bugs me when I see people twist or invent arguments to make a point that could have been valid otherwise...

Ok, rant over..
