I think it's a cultural thing, like every white american gun guy has to have a 1911, and every hispanic american gun guy has to have a 1911 style gun in .38 Super. I wouldn't mind one that wasn't too lit. Maybe some subtle engraving on blue with longhorn grips ; ) CDNN has a lot of these come up on GB.

.38 Super came about for the Mexican market because their gov bans .45 an all other "military calibers," even down to components. If you have me make your wife a pair of casehead earrings and decide to go on vacation down there, DO NOT let her take them along.
 
Added historical note: Part of .38 Super's popularity among lawmen and crims alike was that the standard hardball loads of the 1920s-30s would happily zip right through the steel of the day's car bodywork--the armor-piercing rounds of the era.
