Bought myself the AP5 (MP5 clone) I've been wanting for years off a member here. I guess that's not technically an "impulse" buy but I had kinda written it off like it wasn't going to happen as things were constantly popping up and I was having trouble selling things to create the funds for it. That's changed now!

Just a heads up, the AP5 has a break-in period of ~500rds using 124gr NATO FMJ. If you find it having FTFs or FTEs, that's probably why.

My name is fstdraw and I'm an impulse buyer. I got my 6 month coin but have since fallen off the wagon...again. I can't seem to stay focused. I purchased a Taurus Gaucho. Highly polished SS, Colt 1873 SAA knock-off. Close to a Colt or Italian 6-shooter, but with a Ruger type transfer bar, cool to carry six .45 Colt shells safely. I put 100 rounds thru it last weekend and like it. Left and right it shoots perfect but shoots pretty high, about 4 inches at 20 yards or so.

I finally got my new to me Coast to Coast (Mossberg) bolt action 20 gauge that I recently acquired from @col_Temp a few weeks ago out of anti-gunners jail.
I feel so elated that I could possibly have saved just one child waiting 10 days to get my squirrel gun… FJI FBF
Anyway, it is now in my possession, cleaned and tucked away in the safe until my sliced up trigger finger heals to properly finger it…

I ALMOST impulse bought some Blazer Brass 9mm this morning. Saw an ad for Cascade Farm and Outdoor for Blazer brass 9mm ammo at $9.99/box. Even though I'm not really in need of any 9mm, I thought the price was so good I might as well pick up 500 or 1,000 rounds. Stack it deep while it's cheap, right? Well, I get there and the Blazer brass 9mm was $13.47/box, so I asked the guy behind the counter where the cheap stuff was. He seemed a bit confused, but I'll give the guy credit. He did at least try to help me. We eventually figured out by opening up a 1,000-round box of brass and a 1,000-round box of aluminum, that the aluminum scanned in at the $9.99 price. So, evidently the ad was wrong. I passed on the aluminum cased shells. (When I got home, I confirmed the ad said brass cases, but when I clicked on the item in the ad it took me to aluminum cases on their website.)

This was at the new Springfield location. It's a nice enough store, but that's kind of the second time I've left less than satisfied (out of three visits). It surely doesn't encourage me to go back. There was only one other car in the parking lot. I wonder how long they will last.

If you brought them the ad that said in print the brass cases were $10 they'd honor it. Unless the sku for aluminum was also in print on that ad.

Sure hope they last a good while.

Not so. The guy behind the counter had a copy of the ad, but they didn't honor the "brass" part of it. He would have sold me the aluminum cased at the sale price, even though that price wasn't indicated on the shelf. I got the impression he hadn't posted the sales price sign because he was expecting some brass cased ammo to come in for the sale, not realizing the ad was wrong. The ad had a very generic picture of a box of Blazer ammo. It did not say brass or aluminum on the box, at least not that you could make out. The print by the picture of the box said Blazer brass. There was no sku in the ad. Like I said though, if you clicked on the item in the ad, it will take you to the aluminum cased ammo and the sku# for that on their website.

Sounds like a textbook case of false advertising, then. They literally ran an ad for brass cased ammo but won't sell it at the price they printed.

I really don't think it was intentional. More like incompetence. Let's face it. $9.99 for brass cased 9mm is borderline too good to be true ($200 for 1,000 round case). That's what drew me in. I've probably got more 9mm shells on hand than I've shot in the past 10 years, plus enough bullets, primer and powder to more than double that. At that price, I could buy loaded 9mm and use the primers for other cartridges instead.

I don't have any hard feelings toward the store, but I doubt I'll be paying much attention to their future offerings.

I have a hard time with Cascade. It was recommended to get some 1 oz Federal #8 shot shells and I was told they were $11 something at Cascade for a box of 25. I found exactly the same shells at the Creswell Bi Mart for $7.99 a box. Cascade is owned by Bi-Mart. Once I get to shooting I'll see how they compare to the Norma load I picked up from my wholesaler.

I love Cascade. Within the last few months I've gotten Blazer brass there at $9.99 a box and I've also gotten pmc x- tack for $400 a case. I would imagine Black Friday they will have Blazer brass or something similar stacked deep for $200 a case.

The guy behind the counter told me they had the $9.99 sale often. I really want to like the place as well. You may be having better luck at a location that has been around longer. Hopefully the Springfield location will get their act together, but I would think the current ad with the wrong information is applicable to all of their locations. Maybe not.

They also have the Colt Anaconda on sale. I've always thought I wanted one. However, after actually seeing one up close - that thing is HUGE. I think I'll stick with my S&W 629 Classic.

Tigard Pawn has a stripped 10/22 receiver for $80. I would have bought it if I wasn't on a financial leash. Probably won't last long.
Did my best to stay strong for the last 3 trips to Tigard Pawn, but the thing was just begging me to take it home... got it for $70

Also picked up a stripped M5 lower today, excited to build this thing out into a 308 eventually!

Let me know if you need .308 stuff. I have a complete Aero .308 never put together. 12" and 16" ballistic advantage barrels and all parts aero. Bunch of new mags also.
