I just bought 225rds of 1950's Czech ammo from Liberty tree and I was wondering what others have found in the Surplus market in 8mm mauser?
What is the most accurate, reliable, safe? etc.
I notice theres Iranian now at Samco but its not cheap.
I like the czech the best... brass cased, usually it's all the 196gr machine gun ammo so it kicks a bit harder. next would be the turk, which is a 150gr, and is pretty hot, but the brass wasn't properly stress relieved at manufacture so it's really common to see age cracks on the necks. Dead last on my list would be the romanian steel cased which sticks in the chamber, and is impossible to get the bolt up, and some brand called "olympic" I think mitchell's mausers was selling this crap for a while, lots and lots of rounds were unfit for use (cracks, bulges on the neck) it was just crappy ammo. If you get a good deal on the romanian ammo, the bullets are still good...
