Cabela's had a clearance on pellets 2 years ago $3.50 a tin. I bought all they had on the shelf. maybe 30 tins.
it's not like they are going to spoil with age
It was the uranium that it used to be that spoiled.. The lead is just the remnants.
Pretty crazy to think that all lead was once uranium then depleted uranium and finally to lead once its fully decayed.

Thank god its not that abundant now or we would have NEVER made it this far. Lol.

There a good pbs doc on it called "uranium twisting the dragons tail".

I used my air rifle to take down a branch that broke it our recent ice storm. It wasn't broke clean through so it was hanging about 30 feet up. Shot about 50+ rounds from my basement window.

Guess who just HAD to get the comic-book that inspired a tradition?

eBay score. Grabbed the Daisy history-book too while I was there.

Oh, as far as that bag of clothes, did I ever mention the wife runs a costume shop?

Yup, I'm gonna do it.:s0023:

I can't see the benefit.
Hoping to get higher velocity. Pretty sure the detonation rate is higher than just releasing air out of a valve.
Basically the same reason why "fire" arms are higher velocity.

Ive been dreaming most of my life of trying to figure out a "ultimate" survival rifle. Something where you could just cast the bullets and go. That uses very common fuels. Or just a built in pump.

I can't see that benefit either. You'll likely lose accuracy. If you need more punch, use a bigger round. More distance, beefier air-supply, bigger gun. Check into "big bore airguns" if ya haven't yet. :s0085:

The only way I can see an airgun being a "survival rifle" is if it's a break-barrel or under-lever. Something where you can just grab the gun & ammo and go.

But honestly, as much as I love airguns, I'd put that money and time into a real firearm. Heck, a .22LR will do you better than a pellet gun in about any situation I can think of, shy of legal issues. (you're in the UK, a felon, etc.)

Personally, I would not put the effort into it. A better path is available I'm sure. :s0158:

I was stunned to learn that Lewis and Clark came all the way out on their journey with an airgun that would take a deer and shoot through a wood piece at 100 yards. They demoed it frequently to many of the tribes they encountered.

I remember this being in the rws or beeman (i think it was beeman, now that i mention it) booklet when i was younger. I was pretty amazed too. Pretty damn cool what they had even hundreds of years ago. And we want to try and say our ancestors were completely ignorant of multi shot weapons and such.
Lord forbid they owned a private frigate back then. Haha.

Ignorance is NOT bliss, its a friggin nightmare! For me and everyone else sentenced to suffer through it! ;)

"The oldest existing mechanical air gun, a bellows air gun dating back to about 1580, is in the Livrustkammaren Museum in Stockholm."

It's amazing how far they go back. Even vintage weapons were pretty sophisticated.

I've shot a replica of the original L&CE rifle which was made by the Italian Girandoni. The actual rifle itself, identified as the real thing from a description of a repair made to, I think, the trigger spring by the expedition blacksmith, is in the NRA museum. If you Youtube Lewis and Clark air rifle, you can see it.

There's another guy on YT who makes replicas and I know a repair specialist here in UK who has at least three of them. I'l try and get him to send me some pics.

This should work fine, eh? Haven't shot it yet, but soon as I'm caught up on other projects…

dianachaser_magnum22ammo001.jpg

Some left over ammo from back when I had a magnum .22 gamo. Tight fit, no chrony to test it, but if it hits the target at 20-yards, I'm content.

Spent the afternoon with Diana. Our first real date. Turns out the tales about her are true. A pleasure to look upon, easy to operate, and a sharp shooter.

Okay, she's a little on the heavy side, but she's big-boned.

Ya know what's disappointing? :s0093:
Besides being forced to see a politician's face in an unrelated thread? But oh well, that's not it.

I just found out I need an FFL for an AIRGUN part to be sent to me.
Noooo... I'd have to pack up the gun, send it to them, they fix it, send it back.
For something I can fix myself faster than I can pack it.

Which really seems to defeat the whole logic of it really.

I wonder, COMPANY policy or something more along the lines of .gov? :s0148:

Looks like an air gun to me, specifically an air rifle or air shotgun.... Want to see an air guitar too?

Sure you do..
That's good for the FFL..

Why not just buy an up-rated airgun? Of course you can - in the USA there is no upper limit to the m/e of an airgun.

Ask Lewis and Clarke.

...and for what it's worth - and you can take this to the bank from an airgun manufacturer here in UK - Daystate - a dieseling springer is being subjected to at LEAST three times the normal stress of a gun that is being operated the way it was intended by the manufacturers.

Your money.
