I have thought about what happens in an invasion, a massive quake, etc. And to me it is all going to be roughly the same in that death and pain will be the order of those days. May we never live to see them.

If some sort of societal collapse happens suddenly (as compared to the generations-long degradation that we're seeing now), then we will all become much more reliant upon each other.

Skill sets like farming and paper-making would be in high demand, and we would likely become our own police/defense force.

But there are things that we simply can't prepare for. Such is life.

Planning for many different types of events, from natural disasters to potential societal unrest is a wise course of action.

What isn't wise - telling the whole world on the internet what your plans are, at least with any specificity.

Stocking up on food and supplies, having a communication and travel plan, and a plan for self defense, are all good general points. Everyone should put some thought and effort into such things. That's as far as I go....online.

But this scenario is not going to happen. Ive been reading it for as long as Ive been on the internet.... and I started with a 33.6 modem
Its fun to wargame it in your head... but I think the left has shown their hand time and again... we are seeing their long game at work all around us.

Over the last few decades they have consolidated their hold over K-12 education and the rest of academia... their hold over Hollywood and the rest of the entertainment industry... more recently their dominance over big tech/internet/social media... their hold on power in local government in most EVERY major city in every state nearly...

They have used these positions of power over the years to cultivate generation after generation that comes of age less and less interested in the ideas of personal freedom and individual, constitutional rights... less respect for law & order, less respect for the nuclear family, etc.

In the end... we were all more than happy to give them hundreds of BILLIONS of dollars over the years... paying for them all to get unimaginably rich... while they flopped around with hookers and illicit drugs, etc and giving what was left to Democrats and anti-freedom PACs, etc. They helped finance our demise with our own money. Every movie watched or album purchased... everything you buy on Amazon, every dollar we put thru paypal.... Still have Facebook? How much money is Suckerburg making off of your personal information? Every school board election you ignored, every mid term ballot you didnt return... WE made the deal with the Devil long ago and the bill is finally coming due.

They are not going to need outside help to subdue the country... they already have. Slowly but surely they will declaw the opposition via gun control and systematic killing of gun culture... pretty soon you and your conservative ideals will be nothing but relics of an earlier time... they will keep at work waiting for you to die off... Even before that time though, they will have increased their voter base and you will see loss after loss every 2/4 years.

The time to counter them was 30+ years ago when we were on an equal playing field... anymore though its like the Juggernaut vs. Rainman


It will take something massively catastrophic to change the course of this country.... a few thousand guys mounting an insurgency isnt going to stop them.

Unless there is some kind of widespread cyber attack that effectively kills social media and the internet or a nationwide EMP that lasts more than a year... we are on the course they have set...


Hate to piss on the parade... but I really see all of this going off without a shot. Anyone who is a real threat will get redflagged and black bagged never to be heard from again. Others will take note and face tough choices... not enough will make the choice to resist.
Not a whimper will be heard for maybe another generation when things get to Venezuela status... but by then, no one will be able to mount an armed uprising... also no one will be around to say "I told you so"

I very much doubt this scenario will happen. Twenty years ago, it would be sticking your hand in a bees nest. Today, with the political climate (a lot of angry gun owners), the popularity of the AR platform, people being in little political bubbles, it would be more of a hornets nest now. No army would want to face that scenario (or would want to even think of that possibility; being the focus of 100 million angry gun owners.) Any strife will come from within.

But if it ever happened, after the occupying forces gets badly bloodied, people will turn their arms on each other; blaming the other political faction for letting the foreigners in. Civil conflict.

And those who chose to stay out of the fight will be wiping out the game populations. Then the starving gun-owning masses will turn their attention to ousting their current government because its always the governments fault.
