What was your first firearm?

A hammer and 22LR shells out on the driveway when I was six. Not very accurate, and I got a couple of marks from dad's belt for it.

Ruger Standard pistol purchased new from Western Auto around 1968 for somewhere between $45-70. Great shooter. Reliable and accurate but magazine release a poor choice. Never failed me. Don't remember ever taking it apart for full cleaning. Eventually supplanted by 36 and 44 percussion revolvers because they were inexpensive and I could make the black powder and cast the conical bullets from lead weights found by roadside.

J.C.Higgins bolt action 20GA. Shotgun, $5.00 down and $5.00 a week, mail order.

That was so long and so many firearms ago I don't remember what ever happened to it.

1876 Colt SAA. I was 6 and used it for everything from a hammer to a cap gun. (Non ammo) My parents would be jailed for the stuff they used to let us do nowadays.

But somehow you survived...
