This guy is supposed to be keeping the cougar away from his dog! I don't know what actually took place here. The cat has a collar and my guess is they darted it to gather data and it woke up a little sooner than planned.
When I was around 10 years old I got to ride with a government trapper out of Lane County. He was a hound dog man like my grandfather and that's how I got in on the fun. We came onto a Bobcat in a trap and Ray Barklow was the trapper's name, he said that we were going to take the Bobcat home with us and let the dogs run it. Even at my young age, I wasn't real keen on the idea. I don't recall exactly what he intended to put the cat in but I think it was a barrel. We got it done although I don't remember exactly how we did it since it was 63 years ago. I do remember the cat was not happy.
