What sidearm do you carry when hunting?

My dad had a 10mm S&W i've wanted since I was a kid.
20+ years i've been waiting, i find out last year he traded it and a few other guns for some different pistols. Junk.

Almost every gun my dad has he got from me and I only give him stuff I like.

I carry a glock 45gap always

I carry my Ruger SBH 7.5" in 44Mag, in a cowboy rig. It's loaded with my handloaded 300gr Hornady XTPs clocked at 1177fps. Most importantly, I'm proficient with it, can draw and fire into a 10 ring at 20'. First shot is instinctive, follow ups are are through custom iron peep hole sights.

I haven't had that problem for quite a while. But there was a time it wouldn't work and was very frustrating. I even talked to Joe Link and he wasn't able to help. If you are on a computer, you might try copy and paste.

I'm pretty happy I picked up a G20 for the woods. Makes me a lot more comfortable than just having a 9mm.

I thought about putting an extended barrel on it, too

Depending on the Hunt, I carry a 10 mm or a Ruger .22 magnum revolver! For Muzzle loading I cannot carry any centerfire firearms, so I may also carry a Remington 1858 for defense!

I rarely carry a sidearm while hunting.
That being stated I will carry buckshot for those unexpected encounters with unsavory types.
Otherwise I mostly rely on my hunting arm for defense if needed.
( comes from being way too rifle minded , I guess )

i have carried a lot of pistols out hunting i will probably carry a k frame four inched barreled 38 revolver. i like them so much i even sleep with mine at night in camp.

Another good choice for the field, a S&W Model 586 with 4-inch barrel in an El Paso Saddlery high-ride (Tom Threepersons) holster.

It seems a sensible way the carry the piece and keeps it close without interfering with my leg movement. When I bought my first from S.D. Myres, they cost about $26, but they cost about $90 now...which leads me to believe that cattle are an "endangered species". Good leather is expensive these days!

One day my 1911 will have one .... And yep good leather work is spendy, worth it in the long run.

Another good holster option is an Avenger from Gary C.
I carry the Vaquero in this one. It serves woods duty, and even ccw duty when the weather is cool.
