Mosin Nagant 91/30 iron sights - 400 yards
45/70 Buffalo Gun Iron sights - 350 yards
Para Ordinance SSP 1911 - 65 yards (5 of 8 in target)
M1A1 Abrams 120mm - 3280 METERS (while moving at 35 mph, in a sand storm)

The question was asked, does the tank ring when you hit it? In my experience I never heard it ring but have seen the engine blow out of the hull and turrets fly off. When the M1 is hit by a Russian T72 (frontal with a 125mm) it sounds like you are in the Liberty Bell (trust me on this one guys).:s0155:

Very first shot with the AI .338LM was a tad over 1450m. It took out the dummy driver, the radio behind him and the dummy radioman transversely through both 'hips'.

I also shoot my .451cal military match Whitworth out to 900 yards - the limitation on shooting at 1200 yards are the issue open sights - to shoot the longer range I would need the spindle-diopter sights like those you may have seen on Quigley's Sharps.

Shot out to 800 meters but best shot was a on a yote at 573 yards with a Rem 700 Tatical with H&S stock, bull barrel using Elite 4500 6x24x50 mildot with Federal Gold Medal Match. I was quite suprised I hit him too and measured twice with 2 sets of range finders to make sure. I know I was happy and suprised.

Longest 22LR shot was 250 yards ground squirl.

In the mid 90's I have shot a few DCM matches at Fort Lewis on range KD-22. 1,000 yards using iron sights on a Springfield Armory M1A. 42 clicks on the rear sight to get the round on paper. At 1,000 yards the target looks like a pencil dot. The matches were sponsored by the Washington Army National Gaurd. The guy that taught me how to shoot has spent two tours of duty in Iraq in charge of 4 sniper teams.

I do want to apologize. I didn't intend to convey that I thought solowars was untruthful or anything. I was actually impressed.

Cooler sized rock at 1250 yards with a LAR Big Boar .50 BMG.

Bowling pin at 550 yards with my .270, .243 and .300 Win Mag.

2 liter bottles, 5 in 5 shots @ 550 yards with my new .243 AI using 75 grain V-max bullets. This was yesterday afternoon. A friend of mine who has never shot over 100 yards busted 3 at 300 yards and it took him 3 shots to hit at 550.

Red Bull can @ 250 yards with .17HMR.

Beer cans @100yards, iron sighted Model 94 30-30 and my old iron sighted .22, I think I shoot out to about 150 yards as well with irons as I do with optics. I learned to shoot with iron sights.

I shoot at a private range that has 100, 200, 300 and 550 yard berms.

Farthest thing ever killed was a Nutria at 374 yards using my trusty old model 70 featherweight in .243.
