Inevitably weather will ruin something, probably not until the fall/winter rolls around.

However, I think there will be yet another military conflict in the middle east. Since we're printing money like its going out of style due to the dependance of other nations on our own stock market I think that we cant actually stop printing money.. It doesnt rise or decline is just stays afloat.

That being said, if we had another major military conflict it would near tank our already weak national economy.

Secretly I do hope for a civil war, I dont "wish" it, but I hope someday Americans wake up and take this country back. I think its high time we seperate ourselves from the hybrid neo fascist-socialist/communist city dwellers in this country. Its just getting worse month by month.

I doubt we'd ever be invaded.. But attacked is a different story. Norad is moving back into the Cheyenne mountains in fear of an EMP attack.. So.. Something is up.

I am guessing a financial collapse that leads to civil war would be the man made disaster but nature will strike again. Odds are though that I will die from a bad healthcare system before anything else.

I keep hearing how we are all going to H3ll in a hand basket yet those proclaiming it don't ever tell you when or where - kind of makes you wonder if they aren't hoping it happens.

:D How old are you? If you were paying attention you would have noticed we have gone to hell in a hand basket. It just hasn't escalated to violence yet...in our area. Who is it wants to lose their life, family and all they have worked for?

No one that I know of including me - however to ask such a silly question as to how this country is going to come apart will take a crystal ball. We have had the great depression, ( 1930 and 2008) we have had internal strife ( civil war ) yet we keep trucking. There are too many that think that this great country is on its wayout and to that I call BS.

I respect your opinion but question if it's an informed one.:D

I know the following
I am along for the ride home - good or bad
I am have plans and made preparations for times of bad
I am not going to dwell on the bad but try to enjoy the good times and make it through the bad and help those that I can along the way.
And last that my time in this world wil eventually come to pass hopefully in the distant future.
Thos what I believe.
I am trying to keep positive not dwell on the negative

People lose all hope without a direction to go. It isn't dwelling on what bad may come but having some sort of response to have hope. The country has a cancer called socialism and it's killing the body. It opens the doors to all kinds of troubles and you have seen it first hand by your job loss. The cancer is exposing our weakness to our enemies and dividing the county with Alinski tactics.

Preppers build themselves to survive the foolishness of politics but they have to prepare for the events politics opens the door to. First state of preparation is recognize the threat, a number of things can happen or maybe nothing life threatening will come your way. It's just an insurance policy that you control. You judge how much your life is worth and you judge the risk.

It's all informing yourself and making the best guess as to the future.

What we have is socialism for the rich and free enterprise for working people. Any babble about the pittance some folks get in food stamps or other so-called benefits is just so much aping of the masters' ideology.
What is going to happen is continued strengthening of corporate control over the government host they infest. Under Democrats it's a constant slide. Under Republicans its an avalanche - but always in the same direction.
The answer is reclaiming grassroots democratic action and extending it from 'politics' to the economy.

I have many job opportunities as a matter of fact I have a new one in Portland. I did not fall in love with Medford. In pdx the unemployment for IT is around 2#. I had a new job before I left the old.
I see change that I dont like but I dont confuse that with impending gloom and doom that others dwell on. This ciuntry is not the same country it was fifty years ago or a hundred years ago it will not be the same fifty years from now. I hope we hold onto our values but that will change as well without requesting my input. There are few things that never change I have found.

"Die from bad healthcare" should be "die from bad health"

I would chose that one..... 'cause health and fitness just don't seem to be on the radar for most of the preppers I've seen

I chose that because of obamacare and what it is doing to the healthcare system. Older people will have to deal with the high taxes of Obama care and poor service. Before obamacare 90,000 people a year died from no care or bad care due to the health system. I am sure old people will be killed of faster and their wealth stolen by obamacare.

My father in law worked his entire life in a mill from age 18 to 62. Good steady income and jobs plentiful if he did lose his. What's different today? First there is no opportunity out there compared to 40 years ago. You could quit a job and be hired that same day by another employer. That isn't happening today and there are 93 million Americans unemployed. Which political party has been in control the most in the last 50 years?
