Climate Concerns Increase; Most Republicans Now Acknowledge Change | Monmouth University Polling Institute

You realize that the question regarding if humans can induce climate change is a scientific question and the data is clear. So clear that every single respected scientific organization on the planet accepts the theory.
The gullible position is to trust politicians and talk radio hosts regarding scientific issues.

There are plenty of scientists that disagree as to what impact mankind has had on climate. There's also plenty of evidence to suggest that the climate increasing will have more positive than deleterious effects. Certainly more so than a decrease of a few degrees (which has typically resulted in famine).

There's also clear examples of data being falsified in the name of supporting a global warming narrative as well as serious blackballing in the scientific community for simply disagreeing with the theory.

"The debate is settled" <-- A phrase never uttered by a true scientist, sorry.

Climate change is a religion or dogma to many.

One thing is certain, man's hubris knows no bounds.

CP,

leftists traffic in silly ideas as in: Our enemies admit we're correct.

Well, at least I got to laugh out loud!

Sorry, but c-/high school level argument is transparent, but wonderfully guffaw producing...try again...

That's poetic, right there. (seriously)

As the climate changes there are certainly areas that may benefit - being able to grow certain crops further north, for instance. On the other hand vineyards in Yamhill County are ripping very established grape vines because the climate has changed enough that their quality of fruit is not acceptable - a huge cost to the grower.

As I see it, why not err on the conservative and believe that man's hand has a role in climate change? I am sure this would impede some extra coal mining, but it would also create newer technologies.

Edit: what we have here is known as thread drift. HA

I don't buy into the religion of cc.

'Useful Idiots' do as down deep, they hate humanity and without admitting it want the species extinct cuz they know what's best...

I don't think people are arguing that we abandon all precepts of conservation and ecology. I can't speak for Oregon but I believe WA state derives 99% of its energy from hydroelectric and nuclear, no one is advocating tearing down dams (oh wait, yes they are, for the Salmon!!) and replacing with coal plants.

You can err on the side of caution and assume 100% of climate change is anthropogenic, but that isn't the question. It's what cost are you willing to incur to address it and will it have any impact?

We are busy banning plastic straws here in Seattle and Edmonds "for the oceans" despite over 95% of the plastics in the ocean come from Asia and Africa...hmm

Try asking the critters in your petrol if they believe in climate change.

Regardless of whether humans or nature causes climate change is irrelevent when the fact is that it happens.

Personally, I like to give the analogy of walking through snow, you always leave a foot print.

I wish I had a coal burning stove, but I'm happy to have a 2 wood burning fireplaces, a wood burning cooking pit, 2 V-8 SUV's, a huge mower, in fact many different gas burning guzzlers...

But, you of the most holy, walk or cycle, wear a halo of crowns and sackcloth.

If you don't know the difference between burning wood and coal you shouldn't have an opinion.

Hhhmmm, you do appreciate that sounds just a little 'out there' eh?

I would appreciate all those who believe (as in a religion) cc is man-made, please say so...then I can put you on my list of those invisible to me...thanks for your cooperation...

Uhhhh. I don't understand how taking a strong stance in defense of our Civil Rights, can be considered 'despotic'. ?? :s0160:

Defending civil rights is, of course, not despotic.

Let's be clear, however, politics isn't a unidimensional concept. It dynamic multi-variant thought process. Left and right refer only to general political alignment.

For example, the Nazi party in Germany of the 1930's was considered right wing, not because of its Socialist ideology, but because it was an opponent of the European Comunists. From its inception, the Nazis were totalitarian, and came to power as a reaction to the left's overreach.

There are multiple other examples of right wing despotism; Spain under Franco, Argentina under Peron, etc. So, yes, the far right is a threat to liberty and needs to be opposed.

Thoughts?

Stoichiometric combustion by definition produces CO2 + H2O, and given that we are talking about CO2 as the contributor to anthropogenic climate change...there is little practical difference between coal and wood burning in the context of this conversation.

Aside from coal being more energy dense :)

The problem now, is that those supporting the Bill of Rights, as written, are considered 'far right', and dangerous. I just hope we are 'dangerous' enough, if it comes to that.

I like the rest of your post, but the above I don't see as a good argument. I'll use this analogy: if 95% of the people are littering, does it then mean littering is OK for us also?

We should be leading the world, not using what the rest of the people are doing as an excuse for inaction.

Coal also realeases a lot more chemicals like mercury and sulfur... but ya know, all the wood I burn has lead paint on it so I guess that's about the same.

It's a far stretch to say climate change doesn't exist. You'd have to be one of those Jesus rode velociraptor types... and even then you'd have to doubt the whole Noah's Arc story...

I believe in both, because Lebanon used to be a coniferous forest and Egypt was a marsh, much like the everglades, when the pyramids were built.

PS; you can ignore me, but then I win! XD

Global warming and climate change have been occurring since the end of the last ice age... And will continue until the start of the next ice age.

I just hope records are safely stored so in thousands of years from now, they'll be able to piece together the climate cycles the globe actually goes through...
