I think a bigger problem is gonna be loss of purchasing power from $$$ trillions in unearned liquidity they just pumped into the economy. Maybe our only saving grace will be that the rest of the world is just as bad or worse off than we are.

There's not going to be anymore riots. Conservatives don't riot and don't destroy other people's property. What's going to happen after the election is four years of blaming the Orange Man for everything that is wrong, and propose more big spending/big government/big "new deals" (in every color) to fix everything.

I do not think there will be across the board inflation.

Unemployment will continue to be persistently higher.

Anybody who had a permanent job, for any real period of time, at the beginning of this year, who does not have a job at the end of this year, especially those who went most of the year without a job (tens of millions), will not feel secure for months or years once they have a job. Those who were fortunate enough to keep their job, or to find another job with minimal interruption, will also feel less secure.

Consumption and income is down. Demand will be low. Most people will save any $ they have to be able to pay their bills until such time as they feel financially secure for the near future.

Even people like me who are relatively financially secure (enough to pay our bills) will be careful how we spend our money. I didn't expect to lose my job in March, but I was prepared for it - long term even. But my income long term, will be one quarter what it was before I lost my job. UI benes will only last until May of 2021, if that long. I won't be spending $ like I was last year.

I expect a Trump win and a possible major false flag by the left. I expect the nutters to crank up the rioting and I expect some people to die. If there's a step past rioting short of outright revolution, I expect that too.

So we're as prepped and secure as we can be and we've been filling holes as we go. The plan is to hunker down in the woods and watch things unfold.

Which reminds me, I zeroed the M1A the other day.

Cash is what you should stock up on. It will be in short supply. If you have not already done that, it may well be too late now.
If Biden wins, the stock market will drop. If the Dem's also take the Senate, there will be a huge drop as big business will be facing a possible socialist government and huge tax increases. Your 401k will tank. Mine is already moved to safe investments with zero in the stock market.

And, I already have plenty TP, Spam, rice, beer, Vodka and bullets. :s0108:

OK, I'm intrigued....
.... where did you move the 401k to?

All of the major investment companies have a profile set up for senior's who need a safe investment with low risk as they don't have enough time left to make up for a huge stock market hit. They only average around a 4 - 5 % return, but reduce the risk loosing as much as if you invested in stocks.

Counting on it - waiting for it. I don't think it is too late right now to move out of the market into cash, but it may soon be.

But no. I don't think the market will drop because of Biden winning the election. I think it will go up when Biden wins, and then down before he takes office. It seems investors see an upside in Biden winning (for one thing, they see more stimulus, for another, investors don't like Trumps continuing chaos), but we are having a resurgence of CV-19, the lack of further stimulus is having its effect, as is unemployment and businesses remaining closed. I think it will come to a head.

I am not too worried about my finances - I have income to pay my bills for a while (until I get so old and/or sick my healthcare expenses exceed the ability of Medicare to pay for them) and I have some savings for emergencies. But the economy for the next year or two will suffer regardless of what the government does.

TP shortage came out of nowhere during the virus scare.

In the days following the election, there WILL BE societal unrest and violence in the cities no matter the outcome. What do you think will be the hot item to have that will disappear off of shelves?

Kleenex if Biden loses? Medical supplies? Canned chili?
The usual things that are worth their weight in gold at times of crisis;
Ammunition/firearms
Cigarettes ( buy several cases, even if you don't smoke)
Alcohol (people have been bribed to do pretty stupid things for a bottle of hard liquor, in tough times)
Gasoline/ diesel/propane.
Non-perishable food (think rice and oatmeal)
Vitamins
Warm clothes.
Sleeping bags.
The list can go on and on.

I don't buy the increased civil unrest prognostication.

I think Biden will win, and I think the Senate may fall to the democrats.

At that point, I think guns and ammo supplies will get even worse. Not sure what else will fly off the shelves.

I don't think the far right will erupt in violence. Not sure what the far left will do, but I don't think their violence will increase; it will either stay the same or decrease, most likely the latter.

This.

Now I don't feel bad about being a hoarder. I have 6 or 7 sleeping bags alone.

Your chances are much greater that you will spend any 'collected' (hoarded) supplies to save yourself and your family due to a natural disaster, rather than by rioters or civil unrest. Earthquakes, more frequent and more powerful tornadoes and hurricanes, windstorms, and wildfires...those are the REAL dangers, not zombies or rioters.

We're well prepared in my household for these events. I think we could hold out for a few months, unless we had to move in the event of complete home destruction or a wildfire. But on the off chance it turns out to be zombies (rioters), we have a few weapons, sure. Anyone who doesn't is a fool, as I'm sure we can all agree.

My two cents on this prep stuff:
If you haven't invested in a ham radio, even a handheld Baofeng, you should. If the cell towers go out along with the landline phone service, it will be your best method of communication with others. On the receiving end, find yourself a radio that picks up damn near every available band. You will need it. This is an item that is best acquired sometimes USED. The one below I picked up by trading it for an old stereo receiver. It works like new.

I recently sold my trashy old 1,200 watt Coleman generator on Craigslist for $200. Then I tossed in another $315 and picked up the item below in the picture. Best deal I've made at Amazon all year. I selected this one because it was on sale dirt cheap, they shipped it free, and propane is easier and safer to store than gas cans. So if you want to upgrade stuff, sell the stuff you DON'T need to help finance your prepping.

As far as other supplies, we're well stocked up, but it took me almost three years to collect it all. Amazon loves me, I know that much. For you Spam hoarders, the best deal is to order the 12-pack of the REGULAR Spam at Amazon. Ships free, costs $35. The other 'flavors' are there too, but they are ridiculously expensive. And whenever you shop for survival supplies at Amazon, ALWAYS check the box that says 'Free Shipping by Amazon'. You will save a ton of money per year and acquire much more product for your hard earned bucks.
