A new YHM45 pistol suppressor inspired my to reload my 45ACP supply. 230gn plated , 6.2gn of unique and lots of random range brass... good times. Someday I'm gonna splurge on some starline , goes so much smoother.

I get a chuckle every time I read of people using their "Favorite" powder, Unique, for any given caliber. I KNOW they must have stocked up on in quantity some years ago. I don't think it's been on the shelves for four years at least? Not a powder I came to like back when I started though.

Yep, I'm using a bunch of hoarded stuff... but it wasn't my hoard. People have an axe to grind for Unique , what's the issue?

It works in what I use it for, pistol rounds I know it's me because the same loads work fine in blow back carbine rifles.
I'd love to have CFE pistol, Longshot (saving for 10mm), etc. But shooting funds are tight and I still want practice ammo. If I was where if mattered for me I'd spring for new components. But for trigger time they all go bang.

TiteGroup is my "Unique", I've accumulated a few pounds over the last 5 years. :D

I only started loading in 2011. Unique, Titegroup and Bullseye were among my first powders for loading hand gun. Not binding the powder thrower and cleanliness were the reasons I ended up using 231 and HS-6. But HS-6 works cleaner, IMO, in 9mm and .40. I also like HS-6 better because of wider weight range and case fill. Can't double charge a 9mm or .40 case without making a mess.
If unique works for a person, that's what it's all about!

It runs smooth thru the hornady thrower.
I use it because it was the magic sauce for the 629 s&w for target shooting... I grew up watching Dad a little bit and inherited his stuff. Didn't start loading alot till 2020 😆.
But I was left everything that worked back when. It is kind of dirty now that I'm shooting more.

Was chatting with a friend about those IK 21 223 cases that I fully processed a few months ago.
It has been said that the small flash holes when either depriming/resizing the pins deform the flash hole/primer pockets.

I have the squirrel daddy resizing/recapping pins, that are tapered so I do not believe that they have been deformed.

From my observation under the old school light w/magnifier, they do not appear manipulated.
The Fiocchi SRP's seated just fine.

That being said, I decided to load up some test rounds using 25g CFE223 and 62g FMJ's at 2.245" and will report back when I'm able to get out and shoot/test them properly.

Yes caveman still has and uses a single stage press. That ergo handle is the cats meow. :p

Ditto on the Ergo handles.

Those that seat bullets on an empty case or double charging ARE NOT paying attention.
I did that once! I have no idea how. I take this hobby/habit(?) serious. And believe I took it just as serious from the beginning. So I don't know how it happened. Don't recall what powder I was using at the time. Likely titegroup? Had a squib in a box of .38sp. Next trip to the range, I found the double charged round. That empty, flattened primered, slightly stretched case still sits withing view on that table of mine.

That's a good story, with your Dad, and his gear, and you using it to load your ammo now

A Toast to your Dad!. :s0090:

I am hauling home another 110ish pounds of cast bullets today. My reloading task for this weekend is to get all of my recent reloading purchases moved from living room to safe space. That is going to be a fun trick. I will finish up the fifty 223 rounds I started this morning.
