The last few days I've been sorting two buckets of brass an acquaintance dropped off the other day. There was a bit of everything in the mix. I can only do so much until I recover fully.

Reminds me, I was talking to an acquaintance at work a while back, started talking about guns and reloading. He said that he'd always thought about reloading but never got into it. He did save all his fired brass for years and years though, a bucket full of mixed brass, and a big moving box full of once-fired premium hunting rifle brass all in original boxes.

I asked him if he still had it. Nope, got tired of lugging it around so he threw it in a dumpster the last time he moved.

OH GOD No!

The cracked base is not "the big deal." Instead, I will have to drill extra bolts holes in the IF plates to move the location of the middle screw holes since the existing ones exactly catch the edge of a support shelving facia and I don't want the front holes, within a 1/2" of the end of the bench top, to bear an overabundance of the stress.

You'd think I could cheat it a little but NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO, the Bench Gremlins won't allow it.


P.S. - it took all my willpower to not to add an additional top plate for a Dillon Swage 600.

Going to have to pull a bunch of that? And all those messed up cases? You going to try and straighten them out?

Wet tumbled a full load of 9mm. Still have a few thousand left to clean.

Nope, not gonna even mess with em, I took what I needed out of the batch. The majority of them are LC brass so I'm thinking of putting an ad to sell them for 300 blackout conversion. I know a guy here has an ad in the classifieds for the same thing. If no interest I will add them to my recycle bucket.

I did that. It makes it super solid without any wiggle. I also mounted mine chopsaw for 300 blackout conversion and a vice for the cleaning room

I loaded 200 .30 carbine, first in 14 years.
125 .45 Colt for my sweet SS Rossi pre-safety carbine.
200 .44-40 reduced recoil loads for my favorite lady I shoot with.

I just really enjoy simplicity in my shop.
The problem with that mindset is that it tends to snowball often.

I started working on reloading my first 308 rounds. I ordered the trim pilot but was hoping I wouldn't need to trim once fired brass. I was wrong. I sized the brass and reamed the primer pockets. Now to wait for the delivery truck. Being that this is my first time reloading necked cases, so far so good!

Loaded fifty .38 Special 148gn HBWC ammo. I've been shooting bullets from Premium Delta for the last couple of years, but decided to add 500 of Bear Creek Supply's HBWC to my last order so I could compare group sizes.
Bear Creek Supply has a 200gn RNHB bullet that's just the mutz nutz in my .455 Webley Automatic, & Glock .45ACP. They also have a 260gn RNHB for the .455 revolver, & a heeled bullet for the .310 Cadet rifle that shoot so well I no longer bother casting my own.

And for today's adventure, I put up fifty 45Colts. I have a bunch already loaded but shooting through a Bond Arms Derringer doesn't have to hurt! These are 6gr of Unique under a 250gr plated bullet. Sometimes I have to re remember that we can load for a specific firearm My usual thought process is one load in bulk.

I'm starting a new adventure in shotshell reloading. As a matter of fact, I loaded shotshells in the 1970's before I started centerfire in the 1980's. However, I haven't been using a shotshell press for decades. I've been loading 28 ga. by hand. Lately, my grandson and I have been shooting trap in 20 ga., plus I bought a 20 ga. slug gun that now needs to be fed.

Last week, I sent away for a Lee Load All press outfit. I figured I didn't need anything fancy, we're not going to be firing off thousands of shells. I looked at the used Lee Load All outfits for sale on ebay. The ones I looked at typically didn't have all the bushings and small parts with them. Then I discovered that a new Gen 2 version set cost about $65 so I bought new. The last time I looked at one of these, it had a metal base. The Gen 2 has a plastic base, which I guess is in keeping with how things get cheapened over time.

Last night, I got the new Lee press mounted on a length of 2x8 board. Which when used will be clamped to my bench. I've done this with several centerfire reloading tools; I don't like to keep a bench cluttered up with permanently mounted reloading stuff when it's not being used. Next step is to get together an order for BPI for various components for both birdshot and slugs.

My first shotshell reloading era in the 70's involved a second hand Lyman Easy press. It had the same U shaped handle that the Lee has. It came dumped in a cardboard box with various other things but no bushing set. It only came with one powder bushing and one shot bushing. "You mean there are different bushings?" Somehow, a jug of Red Dot and sacks of reclaimed shot from the Winchester range worked out when I was loading 12 ga. I did manage to use Remington RXP wads with (mostly) RXP hulls. But I've learned a lot about shotshell reloading since then.

The slug load manual that I ordered hasn't come yet. I'll have to wait and see what powder recommendations are in it. I don't have many shotshell compatible powders in my locker, but Unique is one of them. Which might be okay for lighter 20 ga. loads, but perhaps not for the slugs. I'll wait and see.

However still looking for a good trickler, case trimmer, and a die set.

I managed to hit the range and the light loaded 45Colts were WAY more fun to shoot! When I got home, I marked the box as Bond Arms Food and since most everything was still set up, I topped it back off
