I learned a few days ago that the Mormon church runs some type of food store called Provident Living. They have brick and mortar stores spread all across the US that sell bulk freeze-dried items. Prices seem pretty fair. For example, their powdered milk comes with 324 ounces total at a price a fraction under 25 cents/ounce. Walmart sells their brand of powdered milk for 34 cents/ounce. You don't have to be a member of their church to buy things from them.

Not sure if this info has been shared here and I'm not about to sift through 600+ pages of replies to find out lol
They also ship @ a reasonable price, for folks who do not have a storehouse within reasonable drive.

Good stuff by good folks. Be mindful that it's primarily bulk foodstuffs #10 canned, that then would be made to supplement meals.

Plus, the milk & a few others aside, its not freeze dried foods. Which is perfectly fine! Just something to be mindful of. Particularly if the weight of long term food storage is a concern.

The one in Portland is at 10420 SE 82nd Ave, Happy Valley, OR 97086

They used to have canning equipment so you could can your own #10 cans, but I don't think they do that anymore

Yah, the self/group canning went away a long while ago nation wide. ?a decade back?. Sadly.

Due to FDA regs & compliance costs, IIRC.

Bought another battery, Lifepo4 100ah, looked to have a decent build quality for only $140

This one will add to my current small collection bringing me to 340ah total capacity so far....

About 3,400w of energy which should give me 7hrs of power running my window AC this summer if I want to experiment.

Odds are it will end up replacing the old lead acid batteries in my utility trauler.

As part of my 401K bought 6 more hens :s0140:
Having chickens I kept hearing about the price of eggs but often it was kind of background noise as we don't buy them. Other day I happened to see the price at the store and thought DAMN. So since we both had a day off yesterday Wife wanted to stop at a place that had just gotten a shipment. While we were standing there paying phones were ringing of people calling to ask if they had chicks, what kind, can you hold some? I was laughing as we walked out thinking you people wasting time on the phone are going to find none if you don't get in the damn car and drive down here. Sure enough later that morning Wife looked at the website and this batch was sold out. We give away some eggs now. If all 6 of these are hens we will be giving away even more come summer. If price stays where it is now it will be quite the gift when we hand someone a dozen eggs :s0140:

Found a deal on 2 lifepo4 batteries, 100 ah, basically 2 for the price of one...
Where was that?

I've hit a rut trying to add to my used battery collection, and I am now considering the LFPs, especially since I found some with good reviews for LFPs at $140.

The nearby Craigslist used battery sellers won't respond to my inquiries. Amateur hour! And my local car parts store doesn't have any used batteries the right size.

Redeem function.

Edit:

The deal was removed, like they screwed up the listing, so a short window to order before they fixed it. According to my info, I should be getting both batteries soon.

Bought a 20# vacuum packed bag of rice at Costco.

Got a front hitch for my Dodge Ram, now I have to find someone who can install it for me - watched the instructions and I think I just want to have someone do it for me. For one thing the hitch frame came without the hardware and it requires that specific hardware (nuts & bolts and a feeding thingy to get some of the bolts inside a closed off area of the frame).

Find a UHaul and they can install it,
