Switching up the routine for fun. Focusing on cardio, halving the weight lifted but doubling the reps performed. I'll tell you what, the last set burns like no other and I'm more sore than ever in the morning.

If you get bored, something a trainer ran me thru was a ladder set. Get a lower weight then you think you can do.

Start with 10 reps and hold the last one down for the count of 10 before finishing the push/pull.

Then do 9 after a short rest, then 8 etc.

By the time I was at 3 or 4 I was shaking and getting that last single rep was extremely satisfying.

This was back when I worked in a gym and the trainers would try new stuff out on my voluntary self.

I was in much better shape then lol.
 
I wore my Poke High 33 shirt to the gym earlier today. No one cares. No one remembers the legend that scored three touchdowns in one game. Damn young brats don't know history.

Yah !! I know. I saw a touchdown once and NO ONE remembers it but me. Waaassssuuup w/that ?? This younger generation doesn't know Pink Fred, White Sabbath, or even Black Snake !! Huh !!! ??? Are you kidding me !!??!! I even mentioned the company I worked for in 1970 and a group of 20 somethings said "Who ??".
 
I've been wearing a USCSS Nostromo engineering crewman t-shirt and no one has commented. I'm getting old.
I actually have my plan ready: when someone comments on my shirt I'm going to insist that we start talking about "the bonus situation". It'll be epic!

I did four sets of deadlifts at 260lbs. I added 5lbs and did two more sets


After deadlifts I did 3x8+ of the following:

Prone leg curls
Seated leg curls
Cable leg curls
Ham/Glute kickback machine
Roman chair reps with 45lb plate

My lower back is already killing me. Good thing I am taking all next week off from resistance training.


Note to self, don't go to gym in mid to late afternoon. High schoolers take over the place.
Ham/glute day today.

Lower back is still sore from Nov 22 workout but I am going for 265lbs with first three sets of deadlifts today. I will add 5lbs for sets 4 & 5. I was successful with sets 1 through 5 and I added a 6th bonus set.

After deadlifts I did 3x8+ of the following.

Seated leg curl machine
Prone leg curl machine
Ham/Glute kickback machine
 
I did 5x5 of curls with ez curl bar at 87lbs for sets 1-3, then I added 5lbs and a bonus set for sets 3-6.

After ez bar curls I did 3x8+ of the following:

Assisted close grip dips
Assisted close grip pull ups
Dumbbell concentration curls
Dumbbell tricep extensions
High row machine
Bicep curl machine
Preacher curls
Assisted Wide grip dips
Assisted wide grip pull ups
Today is arm day.

I am going to shoot for 92lbs on first three sets of ez bar curls today. Then I will try adding add 5lbs for sets 4 & 5.

I knocked out sets 1 thru 3 with 92lbs and sets 4, 5 and a bonus 6th with 97lbs. I might be at 5x5 with 100lbs by New Years.

After curls I did 3x8+ of the following.

Assisted close grip dips
Assisted close grip pull ups
Bicep curl machine
Dumbbell tricep extensions
Dumbbell hammer curls.
Behind the neck dumbbell tricep extensions
High row machine
 
Shoulders and triceps completed.

The gym was absolute bedlam today with families getting their picture taken with Santa and some sort of Christmas party going on. I wish there was an old school bodybuilding gym nearby with all of the prerequisite equipment; I'd happily migrate.

Here is how far out I had to park to find a parking space. Even all of the side roads off of the property were full.

For $149/month I'd expect a gym girl to come out and pick me up in a golf cart, maybe with a pre-workout snack or at least some compliments.

They have the best equipment around my vicinity including plenty of free weights, sauna, steam room, whirlpools, and an indoor and outdoor pools/swim lanes. I always judge the facilities by if they have a decline barbell bench, which they do.

If i could find equal facilities at a no-nonsense gym I would switch.

Also, a lot of folks will drop that kind of cash with one trip to the bar on a Friday or Saturday night.
