I downloaded 2 apps: Home Workout and Splits training about a month and a half ago. So far I've completed the 28 day full body workout challange and now working on 28 day lower body workout challange along with beginner abs, chest and arms. I've lost 15 lbs so far and I feel great. I also quit drinking and weed, playing video games, and pornography.

They also worked a lot and had portioned food, not gorging on food usually.

Now fast forward to refined sugar, candy, etc.
And sedentary lives. Asians are still relatively slim compared to many other Americans these days. I don't think fat is evil but I do think processed foods that have lots of carbs and fat in dense forms are a problem. It is way to easy to overeat a lot of these items.

I believe its several factors. In the past, food wasn't abundant for most, still isn't in remote areas. Portions are fairly simple. Also, there wasn't many medical records on how they died or why. A Japanese friend who has lived in the States for awhile went back to visit and was fat shamed by her family but she would be considered normal to slightly thin body shape here.

Stepped on the scale this morning...... 210 lbs.

My knees and feet feel so much better. It is amazing what losing a bit of weight does.
Goal weight is 185.

Do you any of you guys watch Ryan Humiston on Youtube?

https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCj209lI3ZOmOCkK8e3qFFNQ

He has a 30 day workout program for $20. I like his tips and videos. Great sense of humor. Videos are short and to the point.

To keep it related, i was at the gym last night for 75 minutes. Strictly arms, biceps+triceps. 15 minutes of cardio included.

I was 238 last night. I have about the same goal weight.

I was 300 lbs in jan 2020, i got used to eating lots of "high flavor" foods like chips, sweets, beer fast food etc. I not only ate that often but i also ate it in large quantities, never eating any meaningful amount of vegetables. I dropped down to 203 lbs by july 2020. i started with a vegetable juicing diet for 17 days to reset my palate. It was very hard to do psychologically and i was craving fries and a burger badly. IT was very similar to when i quit smoking years ago when i also did the cold turkey method, the first 3-5 days was the peak of difficulty. After the 17 days, i starting incorporating salads, nuts and a certain fruits...the weight loss kept going but i was no longer attracted to those high flavor foods.

Eventually the weight loss slowed down, i then weighed about 250 lbs and i switched to keto and started running low intensity, first for 20 minutes at a time every day or so, then 30, then 1 hour. Pace was not important, duration was. The weight just flew off again and i kept at it till july. At that point i was running for over 2 hours, long distances and was intermittent fasting. I was, and still am, on what i like to call a very low carb diet. The weight went up again to about 215 in december because i am no longer as strict and i slowed down the exercising alot but i am stabilized.

I sleep alot better, i am vastly more mobile, no more sinus problems or snoring, i fit in pants sizes i used to wear when i was 20 and my blood work is now perfect. I recently ate a piece of cake at someones birthday party, i felt it would be a little disrespectful not to at that time, i remember how i felt after and was a little like being intoxicated. My mind was racing and i felt a little sick. I got a heavy dose of sugar and my body wasn't used to dealing with that anymore. Kind of like when i smoked a cigar years after quitting, i felt sick and horrible. I am not convinced that eating "sugar" from fruits is quite the same as eating it in processed foods. I think that they just cram that food with stuff that makes you hooked to it without putting any consideration in its nutritional value.

In sum, i hope to keep this up for as long as i live but in order to do this i know that i need to avoid sugar/ processed_carb foods and its everywhere. Basically, keep to the periphery in the grocery store and avoid the isles. I don't claim to be an expert at this, i just know what results i got from what i did. I also know that i need to keep up with the cardio/mobility and strength excercise. I did loose alot of muscle with that weight loss but i am regaining the strength back slowly.

I have found myself MUCH less active during Covid. Didn't realize how busy I was when I was out visiting customers, carrying and setting up equipment for presentations, etc. I've been eyeing those dumbbells gathering dust at the end of the bed. Going to get back into that this weekend, and also start hitting the rower.

Great inspiration, thanks for sharing your experience. And congrats on your successes.

Your story is a great and inspirational as well. Great job!

My downfall is sugar. I tried one of my kids drinks from a coffee place recently. Holy smokes. To me it was so damn sweet that it was overwhelming. It is amazing how your tastes change when you cut out certain foods/ingredients. While i am not nearly as strict as i could/should be, the reduction of sugar in my diet has yielded tremendous results.

Thank you guys but i feel no pride in losing that weight, i felt shame for letting myself go in the first place. I was in the military back in the 90's training on our biathlon team and super fit, when i left i focused on powerlifting and got strong but ate recklessly and also got fat. Not good. Been getting overweight basically since i left the military early 2001...2 decades before waking up.

I lost a rifle..

In weight. Doing a water fast, I lost 8 lbs in 5 days. Probably stop at 7 days, who knows.
This is my second water fast, the first was in my late 20's.. for 30 days just for the fun of it. It was actually pretty easy.
Started at 185, now 177.
I can now easily do two extra pull-ups not having that heavy "rifle" on my back.

Still doing one muscle group per gym trip. Not sure I am liking the results other than my time at the gym is abbreviated. I think I might go back 2 groups per visit with some adjustments.
I seem to have a hit a plateau with my weight loss. I am not sure what the cause is and why. Likely I am going to have to be more restrictive.

What is everyone's plans for commie kates lock downs?

Lifted two tarps that were full of water and weighed about 150 lbs each, while also running around the trailer to wind straps and get the bungees. Then ran half a mile to the damn office so the paperwork wouldn't get wet.

I was doing two groups per session, but I found I had alot of overlap with upper body. For example I'd work my biceps on arm/chest day but also on back/shoulder day with alot of exercises. Right now I'm trying upper body x2 a week, lower body/core x2 a week and cardio day x2 a week. I'm two weeks in and liking it.

As far as plateau on weight loss, it's a fine line between running a caloric deficit and putting your body into starvation mode where it slows your metabolism way down. It's different for everyone. Good luck.
