Good series, fun read.

299 Days series

I really liked this series. A bit different than the normal post apocalyptic survivalist book. Made me think a bit.

The Skeptics Guide to American History

http://www.amazon.com/Skeptics-Guid...ywords=the+skeptics+guide+to+american+history

Not fiction, but interesting none the less.

The Cycle of Arawn Trilogy

http://www.amazon.com/Cycle-Arawn-C...1448694044&sr=1-2&keywords=the+cycle+of+arawn

Fantasy book, but no your typical fantasy, more of a bad guy turns good spin.

Second hand souls

http://www.amazon.com/Secondhand-So...=1448694199&sr=1-1&keywords=second+hand+souls

The sequel to "A dirty Job". If you have never read Christopher Moore I would suggest his books for light read. He does some historical that is worth a look for it's humor and plot line.

14 by Peter Cline

Really interesting sci-fi horror fiction with a Lovecaft esque spin

The Fold by Peter Cline

http://www.amazon.com/Fold-Novel-Pe...=UTF8&qid=1448694566&sr=1-1&keywords=the+fold

Kind of a sequel / occurring in the same world as 14 another Sci-Fi / Horror ish

Just reread "The Crusoe of Lonesome Lake" by Leland Stowe.
It's about a guy who singlehandily wrests a huge farm out of the Canadian wilderness.

Here's a video about his life. It's rather long but shows how resourceful he was in his efforts to make a living out in the middle of nowhere. He also was responsible for saving the Trumpeter Swans from extinction.

I know its an ancient thread...but its my ancient thread...:D
I am re-reading : The Oregon Trail by Francis Parkman.

Just reminding folks that before TV , Movies and the Internet,...there was Books...! :D

I use to LOVE to read. I could pound out a book in a day, but the last few attempts, I get a few lines in, and my mind starts drifting to things I need to do etc. I can't immerse myself in a book like I used to. I can grind it out if I force myself, but it's not pleasant.:(

That happens to me with long posts here. I really do try and get through them, but my mind wanders off......

Hornady reloading manual x, Barnes reloading, Berger bullets reloading, Speer volume 15, Nosler and sierra manuals. Also nick Irving's book. God bless the ranger regiments 1,2,and 3.

I 'listen' to a ton of audio books and 'read' on my Nook E-reader (I get to choose my font, etc)

I alternate between non-fiction and fiction including a few biographies here and there.

Just finished Heather MacDonald's "The Diversity Delusion". Excellent book.

Among many, for fiction I like Donald Westlake and his Parker novels.

Any of Jim Thompson stuff like "The Killer Inside Me" or Elmore Leonard, Charles Bukowsky and I'll stop as I could write the names of writers I like all day long...

16 Years in Burma.

Draft of a novel I'm proofreading for a neighbor, over 400 pages and 150 photo's he took while leading a team of Karen fighters against the Taiwanese security forces. Longest known civil war, it started in 1949 between the indigenous Karen people and the Burmese ( now Taiwanese) . He lost 66 soldiers and was himself severely wounded. He ended up a brigadier general before he left. He has sponsored and moved over 150 Karen refugees to the Portland area.

Started his military career as a Marine sniper in Nam for 22 months and didn't start fighting w/the Karen people until he was 49 in 1994.

Proving to be an interesting manuscript.

Just finished The Platte River Chronicles, a book about the westward migration of settlers across Nebraska enroute to California and Oregon. Very interesting in how it was done.

Now reading The Shipwrecks of the Pacific Northwest. It covers early history up to about 1950's. Lot of people died on that ocean.
