In fact, their isn't really a real world example of libertarianism being a viable political model period. It sounds like a good idea but it ignores human nature entirely. People do not live and let live. They are hardwired to spread their own way of thinking to others as a form of self preservation.
 
No. The founding power structure for this country was mainly rich slave owners and business operators who wanted less control over the local economy and more power in the hands of the LOCAL ruling elite. The ideals they put forth were as noble then as they are today...and just as today they were put forth to buy cooperation of the masses, not in hopes of any real change. Power in the hands of the elites will always rule in human society. Nationalism began to whither and die at the end of WWII as the corporations, turned loose by the Marshall Plan, realized that by commanding global markets they could circumvent national laws that hindered their expansion and controlled their profit structure.
