Given factory match grade 308 ammo with 168 or 150 grain bullets, and a 4 x 16 or 6 x 20 scope, what would one think the effective long distance shooting range would be with this combination? Would taking to gun smith dramatically improve accuracy if additional bedding be preformed? Thanks.

The rifle will outshoot you so don't throw money at a nonexistent problem.

Every head of Elk I shot under 200 I used 165g and was one shot and dead. At one point was 4 years in a row with a Ruger MKIII 30.06 and a Bushnell 4-12x40 scope so if that doesnt impress upon ya how cheap of equipment you can really get by with............
