Wear on new guns

I have two firearms that are very new and am already worried about wear. The two guns are a Kimber Stainless Gold Match II and a Springfield XD40. I can run my finger along the barrel and feel where the steel dips down a bit. I've put no more than 400 rounds through each and always make sure they're oiled before use. Is it the TYPE of oil? Right now I either use RemOil or Hoppe's. I like the Hoppe's more, but anyway, someone have an answer?

My Sprinfield XD 9 shows LESS wear for the amount of rounds than all my other pistols except my Beretta 92. My worst is a Sig P250.
