Down through the last few years American Legislooters have passed massive amounts of unConstitutional anti-gun legislation. And, they are not done yet! They are like rats that just keep on gnawing away at something until it is totally destroyed.
According to most reliable sources, there are more tham 80,000,000 gun owners in this country. So, how do the gun-grabbers get away with this? In my opinion the biggest enemy that gun owners have is a lot of other gun owners. As anybody can read on this site, there are many people who think that "reasonable" gun laws are ok. You often see posts where it is opined that this or that congress person does not really want to take away guns in spite of his or her rhetoric. Some say that we shouldn't have high capacity semi-automatic guns. A few have said that nobody needs to store away 1,000 or more rounds of ammo. Others have said something like this: "I don't care if they ban handguns as long as they let me keep my rifle." Some love anti-gun politicians for whatever reason. And so it goes. But, look at all of the countries where there is a total BAN on ALL guns! They never did this in one fell swoop, but by the bit by bit approach.
In my humble opinion, all gun owners should adopt a ZERO TOLERANCE toward ANY governmental trampling of our Second Amendment RIGHTS! Just because YOU don't desire a certain firearm does not mean that another person has no Right to it! There are enough of us that I believe that if we all stood together with the attitude that any attack on ANY of our Rights will not be tolerated, we could stop these thugs dead! I think it was Patrick Henry who said: We should hang together or we will all hang separately!

Hallelujah, brother! This is the same song I'm singing, there is no reason for us to roll over and give in to any more gun rights restrictions: the gun control movement is on the ropes, struggling for legitimacy and the man who is supposed to be their greatest champion has turned his back on them.

Well I guess I'll be king of America when you all hand over your guns. I lost all my guns in a tragic boating accident.

You sure have a lot of "boating accidents"!!!!!!!!!!!

Odds are that since the socialist have run education for so long that the majority of educated gun owners will give up their guns if a law is passed. The educated have too much to lose if they fight for gun rights so they will turn to sheep ie slaves. Just like in the American revolution only a few stood up.jj

Jim would you really just give up your guns because some fool said you had to? I pray God gave you more common sense than that. Who is going to protect your family and how are you going to feed them when the money runs out? But you may be right about the majority just giving up their guns, look at how many foolish gun owners voted for bho. This better to die a scoundrel than spend one minute as a slave.

It amazes me that most pro-gun people don't have a clue why they have the right to have guns. It is not your right because the Founding Fathers, most who were atheists, wanted people to be able to stop a criminal or defend their home. You have a 2nd Amendment right in order to suppress Government; to keep tyrannical government from running amok. That is why you can own a gun. No other reason. Criminals and guns are a sub-issue. We the People were given powers to prevent government from crushing individual freedoms (not liberties; liberties are temporarily granted freedoms, like a sailor who takes liberty). The banker media has most second amendment folks so confused and twisted they don't even know WHY they have a right in the first place, so how the **** are they going to defend it.

Dear AL, you are wrong about the religious aspect of the founding fathers. Do a little research before repeating such a foolish statement. And yes you are correct in whey the 2nd Amendment was initially put in place.

That was easier because they were fighting a foreign enemy. The Founding Fathers knew that some day our own government would become just as bad as them if not much worse. Hence, your 2nd amendment right. The money masters have had decades to dumb down the masses to prepare for their current looting. Time will tell if free men really are willing to stand up or if most will be on one knee begging for a cracker. Men in 1776 were real men - tough, smart, loyal, unselfish, defiant, trustworthy. Are there many real men left in 2011? Ones that can set down their mobile phone or the TV remote to think for themselves? Personally, I think not. Maybe a very small few, but not enough.

Yes this is the core element - the thing that separates the American system from the rest of the western (European) governments, and is the thing that makes America great. Federalist Noah Webster said it best:

Before a standing army can rule the people must be disarmed; as they are in almost every kingdom in Europe. The supreme power in America cannot enforce unjust laws by the sword; because the whole body of the people are armed, and constitute a force superior to any band of regular troops that can be, on any pretence, raised in the United States.

That is it. As Al said, gun crime and the horrible and sad but statistically insignificant other gun facts are sub-issues.

So is there a question as to about half of the founding fathers being atheist?
Thought that was common knowledge.

"None of them were atheists, they were however all secualrists (meaning they believed that church and state should be seperate, to each his own.) but the personal beliefs of the founding fathers fell into three religious categories: first, the smallest group, founders who had left their Judeo-Christian heritages and become advocates of the enlightenment religion of nature and reason called "Deism" like Thomas Paine and Ethan Allen who believed in a supreme being who laid the foundations of the universe but doesn't intervene to break its' laws (meaning in the Deist' point of view it is unreasonable to believe in a personal god or believe in the existence of miracles which defy natural laws) The second largest group consisted of the founders who remained practicing Christians. They retained a supernaturalist world view, a belief in the divinity of Jesus Christ, and an adherence to the teachings of their denomination. These founders included Patrick Henry, John Jay, and Samuel Adams. The largest group , consisted of founders who retained Christian loyalties and practice but were influenced by Deism. Like John Adams, George Washington, James Monroe and Benjamin Franklin."

Woah!!!! Read the first line, the first 5 words and tell me Our Founding Fathers were atheist? LOL! More public school education rearing it's ugly head.

i love my guns and the right to have them, but I sometimes wonder...what would it be like if we all gave up our guns. Would the US be a better place? i know i know no one would have guns, but criminals, that is somewhat true just as it is in other countries like Canada and the UK for hand guns, but in the long run would we fair better as a society.....????

before you guys crucify me too badly, I am expecting some strong responses, but dont blame me for asking a question we should all be asking.

The problem is not with guns; it is violence. If you were to wave a magic wand and make *all* firearms disappear and unable to be recreated, man would pick up a couple of sticks and a string and make a bow and arrow. Or a rock. Or just his bare hands.

So to really answer your question, no the US would not be a better place. The 'good guys' would be defenseless against the 'bad guys' who not only kept their firearms, but are now emboldened by the prospect of easy pickings among those who cannot defend themselves.

They'll be done when we STOP VOTING THEM BACK INTO OFFICE!

It's that simple. So the real question then becomes: Do you vote?
If you don't, then quitcher bubblegumen.
If you do, you may complain all you like. It's your God given right, held firmly in place by the right to vote and the entirety of the Bill of Rights, not just the 2nd amendment.

Soooo, just like anything else,it depends on what source you use?

Believe what you want. I rather believe they were, and not a victim of a fairy tail

Poor souls.
Follow your hearts as I will do
I do not believe in fairy tales though.

And you CAN NOT give me physical proof
Been there done that,bro...don't work for me

One thing most people fail to recognize is that for every 1 anti gun sentimant that tries to go through legislation, it is hammered by about 5000 pro gun advocates. There will always be anti gun, or pro gun rights as long as there's guns in the publics hands.
