There's about a million miles of PVC underground right now.I would guess a few hundred that I buried. It's brittle but you sand it,bed the pipe and it is fine. Make sure there aren't any bad bends or stress on the pipe and it will last quite some timeWirsbo or Pex is the preferred piping to lay underground or inside a dwelling.
PVC is too brittle and copper is too expensive.
As long as there aren't any caustic chemicals in the ground. Years ago Cal gas? tried to use PVC for Natural gas. Made the pipe even more brittle,in thee biggest earthquake zone,lol
