That's exactly right. They teach kids that America is a fundamentally flawed country, broken from its inception, with a sordid history of genocide, robber barons, slave drivers, oppression and inequality i.e., exactly what the Communists used to teach kids about America. They imbue the kids with a sense of outrage. The kids then go out into the world with this idea that they have to "fix" America.

We had two girls go through public school, the last one graduating in 2017. I saw the homework assignments and I read the papers. They learned nothing about American History, or the Constitution.

Luckily the kids in my classrooms know how:
To stand and recite the Pledge of Allegiance...
They also are taught to be respectful and say Please and Thank you...
Not all classroom and teachers are like the example shown in the color picture.

But you must admit, Andy, it is the rule. The brainwashing of my two girls started with the teacher in Montessori. Now they only believe what group think tells them. It's all our faults for not paying attention to who's on our school boards, and what's in their text box's and lesson plans. You're on the inside. Maybe you can elaborate?

I wouldn't say its a "the rule" at least where I teach...Of course every school and school district will be different.

I can only speak for myself....
I am the Behavior Specialist for my school ...which means I get to interact with a large group of students and teach a variety of what is commonly called "LifeSkills".
One of the many things that I teach is to think for yourself.

I dislike the stereotype of the so called "Liberal" / "Hippie" / Anti-gun , Anti USA etc... Educator almost as much as I dislike the common media stereotype of the average gun owner.

Are there folks that fit either stereotype ...yes indeed.
But we do have several teachers here on the forum that break that stereotype and I am sure that many more are out in various districts.
Andy

Curious what Behavior Specialist is / teaches. What age class? Is it a formal daily class like English, Math, Social Studies, History, Geography, or does it take the place of Civics or such. It's been a long time, but we can judge our schools by what they produce.

I work with students that have behavior problems , daily...often many times throughout the same day.
No it does not take the place of any class...but I often am in many different classrooms , teaching alongside the regular teacher.

That may mean working:
On the behavior issue...
Teaching a classroom lesson , such as History , Science , English , Math etc...
Teaching a "LifeSkill" , like:
How to get along with others
Why saying Thank you and Please is important...
The subtle and not so subtle ways and means of communication and everyday happenings, etc...
How to work well with others , when they disagree with you or make you angry...
There is not enough bandwith to cover all of what a "LifeSkill is...LOL

As for age range right now I am in a K-4th grade school...for the last 12 years I was in a High School with ages from 12-21.

And again I can only speak for my school not any other school by "what they produce"...
To do otherwise is unfair and will not be accurate of all schools and all teachers.
So I must say again...are there teachers who dislike :
Guns..
Gun owners...
Patriotism...
America...
And teach blind subservience...
Yes indeed, there are.

I am not one of them....
I have talked and taught about my love of hunting , Patriotism , firearms , history , independent thinking and many more subjects in class , small groups or one on one .

Just like the stereotype of the hateful , racist , government fearing gun owner....the stereotype of the teacher who dislikes guns , patriotism , America etc..and forces their opinions and "teachings" on their students ....is just that , a stereotype....
Both are not true of every gun owner or teacher.
Andy

Thank you for the good explanation. That does sound like a necessary and important job in this day. Things are more complicated now than in my day, when the nuns taught us the Ten Commandments, and we were good to go, for the rest of our lives. Yes, there is a huge difference in how our children are educated - by the school district, and in my opinion is not getting enough attention. Thanks again.

When you want advice on your car, do you call a dentist? Or do you ask a professional who does it for a living?

Remind politicians that street cops OVERWHELMINGLY support the 2A. It's not even close. These are information snippets and links I gathered with a little online research. It's all verifiable. USE IT IN YOUR CALLS AND EMAILS.

Police officers are considerably more likely than the general public to say it is more important to protect the rights of Americans to own guns than it is to control gun ownership (74% of officers vs. 53% of the public). (Pew Social Trends, January 2017)

National Association of Chiefs of Police Survey polled 20,000 sheriffs and police officers. 76% say that armed citizens help law enforcement reduce violent crime. They are more pro-gun than the general public. This links to their results:

Rank-and file-police show even stronger support for private gun ownership. PoliceOne, an organization of about 380,000 active and 70,000 retired officers, surveyed 16,000 members on the gun control in 2013. 71% say assualt weapon bans have no effect on violent crime, and 20% say it would make violent crime worse. One thing that has been on my mind regarding these bills, has any of these legislators given thought that this could potentially give organized crime another source of revenue? I doubt elements of organized crime will tax sales and remit the collected sales tax to WA Dept. of Revenue. I did write my representatives from my LD and so far no response.

The only consideration in this whole thing is to disarm the people. That's it. Period.

Most likely, one of the sponsors from the 48th LD and on her site it reads...

"We also need to ban the sale of military-style, semi-assault weapons and high capacity magazines and follow the military's lead and require the rest to be inventoried and stored in a safe location other than a home. I believe we need to ensure safe storage of all other firearms in our homes to make sure they stay out of the hands of children. I also believe we should require insurance given gun accidents have and continue to sadly happen with some regularity. We should also remove the state preemption on gun laws, allowing cities and counties to decide how to handle access to guns within their own communities."

Based on past lessons in history, the above statement does not set well with me. Then I went over to endorsements/constituents page and noticed quite a few law enforcement, firefighter, and building trades organizations and I knew there are several members of these organizations that really like their firearms, they need to not donate to her re-election campaign...it seems this individual is another minion of the A.G.

If there was a way so that their campaign funding could be cut off or reduced...I went over to the PDC and to find out there their major source of campaign contributions...

In Washington State, HB 1286 and SB 5340 have been introduced. They are now in committee.

They have listed quite a few weapons and it would affect magazines over 10 rounds.

One paragraph:
"A person who legally possesses an assault weapon or large capacity magazine under this subsection (2)(a) may not sell or transfer the assault weapon to any other person in this state other than to a licensed dealer, to a federally licensed gun smith for the purpose of service or repair, or to a law enforcement agency for the purpose of permanently relinquishing the assault weapon or large capacity magazine;"

There is a lot more in the bill. Please read it and start letting your legislators know what you think. My State Senator will probably fight it but my Representatives will support it.
I read somewhere that the NJ law passed requiring large capacity magazines to be turned in to law enforcement agencies has resulted in 0 (zero) turn-ins. Passive resistance...making good citizens into criminals...is often a solution, albeit not the best one. Not all Germans/French/Dutch/Belgians turned in their weapons in the '30's/40's.

I finall got a response to my email sent Feb 4th...

"Thank you for contacting me with your concerns. In this legislative session the legislature has not taken action on any bills restricting our 2nd amendment rights. As the owner of multiple firearms and a concealed weapons permit holder I strongly support 2nd amendment rights.

Rep. Mike Chapman"

So the ERPO he deems as constitutional?:mad::mad:

Honestly 90% of America or better live in relative safety. Up to the early 2000s we had a vibrant economy before the tech/housing bubble burst Even 9/11 didn't threaten us physically. so as I've said, if you are under 25yo what has your life been?

You lived in a nice house. Planned neighborhood, Soccer practice. Hollywood driven politics, ect. you were to young to grasp the financial down turn and have benefitedfrom the recovery. Anything else from your narrative is a hate filled hard sell.

He seems to have forgotten about HB 1465 and HB 1739 also.

Then again, you know as well as I do, that the party that shall not be named (under penalty of having posts deleted and/or banning), will argue that any gun control bill they push, does not "restrict our 2nd amendment rights".................. go figure.

Yes, he is an up & coming lackey like the ardent anti-American gun haters that run rampant on the West coast.

It's beginning to feel like the old days again here, can't say boo without getting yet hand slapped...

You have my contact info if I go silent soon.;)

Slobray, just say it for sake. Why can't people handle the truth? If it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck....what is it? It's certainly not a fluffy bunny. Today's PC and everybody kissing it's butt these days makes me sick.............

Do we, as a state, have enough people who own "assault weapons" and "large capacity magazines" and/or care enough about the issue to attain a voting majority any more? I suspect that we don't given the increasing rate at which the 2nd amendment is being infringed here.

A significant fraction of gun owners will not even support the NRA. What does THAT tell you? ;)
