Maybe for California laws but I have not seen that anywhere. Which manufacturers offer that service?
I'd have to go back and check; saw it sometime last year.

Think there were others... my once-vaunted memory is not all that it used to be, and it's a nightmare having to watch one of the things I once prided myself on starting to slowly slip through my fingers ALREADY with half my projected lifespan still ahead.

Your statement is correct but steps over what I suggested. I did not suggest that an unlicensed consumer finish an 80% kit and take it to an 007 FFL for a serial number. First, possession or purchase of the unserialized 80% would violate the proposed WA law. My suggestion was to have a FFL mark the 80% frame or receiver with a serial number. Thus, the consumer could purchase and possess the 80% frame or receiver under the proposed WA law. Federal law regulating how an 007FFL marks a firearm or receiver would not apply because the 80% frame or receiver is not a firearm. Nor would federal law apply to the consumer completing the 80% frame or receiver, so long as the consumer is completing the frame or receiver for his or her own use and not for sale.
That's actually a brilliant workaround.

HB 1705 proposes to prohibit sale of magazines over ten rounds in WA, and addresses "ghost guns". **** This coming Wednesday 10am the House committee is holding a public hearing on this matter. It MAY hold remote testimony. Please make your voice heard.

Somebody should point out that the CA mag ban is before SCOTUS, and if SCOTUS strikes it down a ban here is just legislative masturbation.

I don't see any magazine bans in HB1705.

Here is the list of (apparently) last year's firearms bills in WA: https://apps.leg.wa.gov/billsbytopic/Results.aspx?subject=FIREARMS
Everyone needs to sign in to these hearings as opposed to these bills this year too. Even if you don't want to speak. At the beginning of these hearings the committees do discuss the number of voters signed in as in support or opposition.

Saw this snippet in an opinion article about scho shootings etc in the Seattle Times paper this morning, from Saturday, the 8th. Undoubtedly, the anti gunners are bent on this mag ban and have been for years.
I can bet my life savings if they ban standard cap. mags they will make an LE exemption so they can have them while the common citizens are stuck with neutered mags, in turn cutting the odds of survival when you need it most. All because the number 10 looks pretty on paper apparently.

How dire is SB 5217 in particular?

How dire...?

I am done with one law after another , as well as yet another ban or restriction...
All of which do nothing to prevent crime or keep people safe.

These proposed bills do nothing , but prevent law abiding gun owners from owning certain firearms or firearm accessories.
Andy

I only ask because I recall this same bill, or some version of it, from some time ago. At that point it was unlikely to succeed. Or perhaps I am just confusing bills.
