Wanted to Borrow: 1911 Plunger Tube Staking Tool

The plunger tube on my 1911 clone has come loose.
Does anyone have a staking tool to fix this. I would gladly
come to your place to use it or even to have you help me
out by staking the tube yourself.

If you have to restake a plunger tube it's a good idea to have one or two extra. Especially if there's not enough metal left on the legs to make a good stake or if you've never done it before. New tubes are inexpensive at Brownell's, or Midway or any of a number of outfits. The plunger staking tool isn't a wallet buster either.

Agreed. Problem is that Brownell's does not have any Staking tools in stock.
So, I'm looking for someone local who has the tool so that I can try staking
the current tube and then ordering a new tube if that doesn't work out.
Do you know of anyone with the tool? Thanks, Tom

I have had several come loose on Colt 1911s? Never had the problem on Springfields, Kimber or Para.
I like how Ruger makes this a integral part of the frame! No staking needed!

Back in the day I made my own staking tool from scrap metal and a set of vicegrips, soon after Brownells started selling a refind vicegrip version. If only I'd patented it. Used the same approch to make a frount sight staker.
