Curt's Discount Shooters Supply has AR-15 kits for around $650.00 or so.
You buy the upper and the lower separately, and when you get home you just pop the two retaining pins together and you just made an AR.

At the gun show in Merlin yesterday they had complete ARs with composite receivers for $499 aluminum recevier models for $50 more. And good prices on ammo excepy for 22 lr it was stupid high!
