With prices on imported items likely to rise in 2025, what items are you hoping to purchase before prices rise.

The wife and I have been talking about buying a new laptop computer jointly. Most of them are made in China these days so prices could come close to doubling. I think we will pull the trigger on buying one during Black Friday or Cyber Monday sales.

I use a lot of these gloves from Harbor Freight. I will stock up on them during the next sale.

Other than that I don't buy much imported stuff on a regular basis.

The wife wants a new fridge/freezer for the kitchen. I fixed the old one but she doesn't trust it or my repair job. I am guessing most of those are imported so we may end up with a new fridge as well.

Oh I am going to need new tires for the car and it needs a full brake job as well. This list is going to be longer than I thought and more expensive.

Just remembered I want more Ryobi 18v batteries to power my tools and inverters. This list might have been a depressing idea. Fortunately Black Friday is coming up. Unfortunately I am on an allowance. Might have to plead my case with the wife for a temporary financial reprieve from allowance situation.

Probably should have held off on Aero M5 upper/lower receiver purchase. With transfer fees, that's $188 or 1.5 car tires.

I guess for me it would just be a new wife as I just got a new/used fridge and fixed my dishwasher and dryer. Oh and also a giant Zero Foxtrot Logo sticker for my new black fridge that will cover the entire front of it as my house is a bachelor pad and I do not have a wife to tell me I can't do that...

If anyone knows the best place to import those let me know, I am quite frugal though/borderline cheapskate.

Did you tell your wife how much money in tires you saved though by getting an M5 reciever set for $188 lol!!! I mean the tires are basically free now...

p.s. just pulled my Precision Armament 5/8 x 24 7.62 EFAB md off my new 12.5" M5 build to swap for a KX5 if you are looking for a quality md (don't tell your wife about this great offer).

Russia has a surplus of widows, they may come with children though.

Shouldn't there be a huge surplus of vehicles and other property after inauguration day?
I was to understand that half the country would be expatriating. Or hurling themselves off bridges.

Side note. I stumbled across this gross little overstock store yesterday, bins full of completely random items for dimes on the dollar. You'd love it.

Dollar dimes are the best dimes!

My YouTube feed on my phone has sponsored ads saying there are are single women from Ukraine, Asian etc looking for a husband and willing to relocate….

I'm not sure what they cost but I did suggest it to my wife (assuming they are all as hot as the model they use) that it might not be a bad deal to have another set of hands to help her with the household chores and such:rolleyes::D.

It went over about as most would expect.

Ryobi batteries have a deal at HD where you can get a free tool when you buy a pack of batteries.

Not as good as the brushless deal last year but still not bad if you buy a $99 pack of batteries and get a $59 tool free.

Hide the super glue for a few weeks my guy.

Many of the things brought up are no longer commonly made in China. A refrigerator has components from China, but most domestic full size refrigerators were never made in China.... Usually Mexico.

HF disposable gloves have come from several other countries (I buy them regularly too) like Indonesia, Malaysia and Vietnam, for example. HF tools are beginning to bring in Taiwanese made tools. Many manufacturers and resellers have begun the process of leaving China since COVID, and it hasn't been because of tariffs. Xi Jin Ping is a xenophobic dictator and has severely affected foreign business operations and the expat community in China through his own policies to divorce from the West. Almost all of my recent new electronics purchases have surprisingly not been made in China. The pivot has been occurring for a few years. Remember, Biden actually continued many of the Trump policies against China, so there was still pressure against China during his administration.

My wife and I have an electronic engineering business, our LED lighting is made in Shenzhen because the LEDs must use an aluminum PCB, and it's basically impossible to get MCPCB manufacturing in the USA. We do have our FR4 PCBs made in the USA though.
We also have the ability to charge our customers directly for tariffs as a separate line item on the invoice, since we are a direct to business company.

But hey, it seems American consumerism for cheap trinkets on Amazon may need to hit the brakes for a while.

We'll see more items being manufactured in friendlier low cost countries, and Trump is only proposing a 10% tariff on non-Chinese imports.
I assure you, this stuff is so cheap to make, the margins are so high on imported goods that 10% will hardly affect us, especially since there has been an earnest pivot from China going on anyway. And, China has even stated that it no longer wants to be the gold standard of cheap labor.

The proposed 60% tariffs, if enacted, certainly will affect China, but we need to stop funding their Communist goals (should have never even opened up to them IMO)

Between California passing a law revoking the free pass on shoplifting and Trump-endorsed law and order enforcement there will be far fewer batteries stolen from the retailers. This should allow them to drop prices enough to offset the tariffs, and then some.

Battery prices have skyrocketed in recent years.

I would expect to see less optics from China as the tariffs would make the better optics more competitive.
