Join the #1 community for gun owners of the Northwest
We believe the 2nd Amendment is best defended through grass-roots organization, education, and advocacy centered around individual gun owners. It is our mission to encourage, organize, and support these efforts throughout Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Montana, and Wyoming.
I know that ones with the cross-pin are preferred (if alloy-framed) due to the strengthening it gives (alloy-frame is weaker than steel in testing for P-1s). Manhurin in France made the P-38 post-war for awhile, then P-1 production started in West Germany after 1955. First ones were without cross-pins (made in the 50s and 60s), and were found to have cracking issues. Cross-pin fixed most of the issue with the alloy-framed P-1s. However, P-1s should only be fired with standard pressure ammo...NATO-spec at most, never +P (but that goes for all steel P-38 as well). Hope this helps.
