Wa state..legal age for long gun ownership ?

I think the legal age for long gun ownership used to be 18 years...or am I thinking of ammo purchases. ?
is it 21 for both handguns and long guns? thanks !

As I recall purchase age is 18 for long guns, 21 for pistols, unsure about ammo.

Possession and ownership are two different things. A long gun may only be purchased and officially owned by someone 18 or over. A minor can have possession under the criteria of RCW 9.41.042 but they do not have actual title to the item until age 18.

And most places won't sell any "handgun caliber" ammo to anyone under 21.
So some places won't sell 22 ammo to you although it is legal to at 18
