Really no difference. A 4473 and background check at an FFL Dealer is required for ANY Firearms sale. Can't help with the location.

Unless the receiving party has a CPL there is a waiting period for handguns.

C&R is the only non family based exemption for actual transfers I can think of..

The age of the receiving party might make a difference between long gun and handgun. I believe a handgun recipient needs to be 21.

The waiting period was the main thing I was curious about. I was pretty sure I knew how this would work in Oregon but Washington and it's silly waiting period confused me. Looks like Haynes and Sons will be taking care of this for us on Monday.
