I'll be moving back to eastern OR later this year, something that has been in the works for a couple of years. It gets me happily out of Portland but I'll still be subjected to Salem's insanity.

The company I work for has facilities in almost every state (I actually transferred into OR in 2005) so there are options available. If I pick up and move again it might be to the southeast US...KY? Maybe TN?
Unfortunately my employer does NOT have anything in MT or ID. CA is (and always was) out of the question, but UT is on the table and maybe TX.

best thing to do, move away from the inner cities

The problem being, is when the cities collapse, all the people are going to locust I5 south, and everyone in their path will be consumed.
10-15 miles either side of an interstate will get consumed.
So you and I are not safe if we live here. Time to head for them thar hills.
Just make darn sure you have a place to go when you get there.

We have lived here since 1965. This is where We make our stand.

If you believe in something enough, like The Right To Bear Arms, then its worth fighting for, no matter where you're at.
I like what Andy stated earlier, too.
Pass all the laws you want, I'm keeping my guns. If you try to steal them from my home, you'll be met with a .270, two 12 gauges, two 20 gauges, an 8mm Mauser, a 16 gauge and a couple of .22's...….your move, boys.
OoRah

Unfortunately gun owners in Washington are too lazy to actually do anything. We couldn't the hit 240,000 signatures for repeal 1639 . We needed about 100,000 more, but over 200,000 gun owners in Washington were unregistered to vote.

I went to the second amendment rally last night. There was only a few hundred people there, when there's hundreds of thousands of gun owners in Washington.

Why we're losing our rights because too many gun owners are lazy. They don't take the time to have their voices heard. They are too lazy to get registered online, and vote on their ballot at home.

Where the anti side votes, busses in thousands for their protest. I think you're living in a fantasy if more of these states start dropping that you can run away from this. If we don't make a stand, and show our presents it's just a matter of time where the whole second amendment gets eradicated.

The initiative to repeal 1639 was doomed to begin with because we were given a few weeks to gather the signatures, when we should have had a few months.

Here's the hard reality. The people that really care about BGCs, AWBs, mag capacity limits, CC, preemption etc participate in the process at an extremely high rate. They vote, donate and contact their legislators. The gun owners that dont do those things either support GC, or simply don't care. The vast majority of gun owners are perfectly happy with their bolt actions and pump shotguns.

It's a fallacy that there's a huge army of voters out there that are hard core pro 2A as intended supporters that are too apathetic to participate. The ones that care and agree, do.

In the long run, the courts will decide the fate of the 2A. Not your neighbor that goes duck hunting twice a year.

I kind of wonder why comoanies and businesses arent more invokved nationwide. Their very customer base is being threatened.
as I said in one post too worried about bills family's etc... Gun businesses only get involved with what they dare do...
The ATF and feds all have them too scared to do much more. Worst thing we did in this country was to pass the NFA and the first gun control act of 1938.
pass a law and once crime from those laws come pass another to help correct what that other law didn't do then another etc...
I'd rather be able to buy a Tommy gun at a gas station as they once were able to and not try to control felons from owning them and be free than do what were doing now.
It gets worse the more we do but instead of seeing the light they make it worse instead. Lots of people on both sides gun owners etc... like these laws or don't care they are being infringed upon as long as it promises some sort of safety or something.
Law and order is destroying what our forefathers fought for. Strike that has destroyed. :(

I think the businesses are afraid to get to political for fear of upsetting the antis and the fencesitters. It's a big mistake in my opinion.

Some gun grabbing laws benefit these businesses, like universal background check laws. Why would they fight those when it produces another line of revenue for them. It also steers some customers back to stores rather then make a private party purchase.

Money as I said or implied if I didn't. Fear also plays a large part.
It was on here I think or some other site but I talked to one that was a business as to why he or they didn't stand armed when the ATF came in and demanded their records on all who had bought a unstamped or unmarked lower recently, and he said it was because of fear and he has a family to take care of etc...
We went round and round on logistics as to the shot heard around the world and supply of the brits etc...
I believe we ended on a agree to disagree note.

Many gun owners are still un-informed, not just in Wa but everywhere. Gun owners don't realize is in the eyes of Liberals "ALL Guns are Assault Weapons" Eventually, they will come for all of them.

I'll be moving eventually to Arizona. Not because of the 2A thing but because I love my family and want to be closer to them. The 2A thing is a bonus.

My wife and I made the move to AZ a few days ago for the same reason. My dad has stage 4 cancer and we wanted to be here for him. I was born in AZ and spent almost all of my childhood here. I will miss the NW (27 years between OR, WA, and AK) but I do love the desert and the 2A atmosphere. I feel I'm among more friends. Good luck to ya 11Charlie.

This is why I try to share the link to the leaked Grabbers' "one cut at a time" playbook every chance I get... but too many STUCKING FOOPID PEOPLE refuse to understand that "yes, Elmer, they DO mean you and your precious Bambi-blaster, and if WE fall they'll be coming for YOU sooner rather than later."

Did you consider Texas? If so, why was it narrowed out?
Here's how I look at it. You're on the Titanic and it's just hit an iceberg. Are you going to stick around, bail water, wait for some rescue you know isn't arriving in time? Plead with the ocean to not devour the ship? Or are you going to get in line to be on that life raft?

Another question. Who do you want as the prosecutor or your jury pool if you have to use your gun and face a potential prosecution and end up before a Jury? You want a prosecutor from Olympia? A jury from King County? Or somewhere in a free state where people respect the right of self defense?

Another question. Where do you want long term roots, to make friends, meet people, raise a family, have kids go to school and learn and be educated? Maybe moot for some settled folks but for me it was very relevant.

After years of wishing, I finally pulled the trigger on a move OP and I'm telling you the stress relief and breath of fresh air is life changing in a positive way. It was a hard, expensive and time consuming move but I abandoned that sinking ship called Washington and every day I wake up with a smile...

I lived there for 8 years and heard all the tough talk about taking the state back, fighting, etc. I protested, I rallied, I handed our fliers, put up yard signs, went door to door, voted, was fairly active. Apparently 25% of Washington voters love anti-gun policies and socialism, and another 50% of Washington voters are too stupid to know or too lazy to care.

Now, in a FREE state, I can buy and carry guns without anyones' permission! And I've been buying guns like a free man, carrying a gun like a free man, and just enjoying the happy people in this state.

In addition to the 2A nonsense in WA, there were other factors. The state is an disgrace and I was embarrassed to admit living there under that corrupt dishonest leadership. The apathetic voter pool and the "Seattle Freeze" attitude was too much to bear. Seemed most people were rude or lefists. The difference here is night and day. Folks are nice and friendly, people seem happier, etc.

Anyway, I agreed with your assessment and I did exactly what you're discussing in fleeing the sinking ship.

Thank you. Your post is a stark contrast to some of the "don't run, stay and fight" posts on here. How many of these people who post that kind of stuff are actually "fighting". I've got news for them, you're in the statistical minority...you are outnumbered in EVERY vote, the battle is lost here. The state is a DEEEEP and HEAVY BLUE. It's only going to get worse. Bullet buttons, high cap mag bans, registration, no CCW, it's coming. And I don't know what people who are "flying under the radar" think is going to happen when they get pulled over and searched, K9 sniff or have to use their gear in self defense then get prosecuted for it and do hard time in prison getting raped by bubba and his friends. Some of these positions are extremely poorly thought out. There will not be a revolution.

Look at England. Look at the rest of the world. This isn't hundreds of years ago or some third world country. People here care more about what some bimbo on YouTube is posting about (opening an amazon returns mystery box) or their $6 latte from StarBurnt. And hey if you want to be the example that the feds kill in a shoot out or send to prison, be my guest, let's see you "fight".

Your post on the other hand makes perfect sense and you made GREAT points. I'd much rather have a jury from say, rural Texas decide if my actions were justified than the "free education" liberal arts major that is still living with mommy and daddy at 45 and working at Barnes & Nobles, riding home on their bike to eat their quinoa and avocado toast.

I went to grad school in Texas, I've considered moving there. Houses are cheap, I can get a house there for about 25% of what mine here costs. And the taxes on that house are still lower than here, even though Texas is known for high taxes.

There aren't a ton of tech job opportunities out there though which is what has kept me from going there. Vegas and Tampa have a good tech job market still. But alas, over the last 4-6 years I've been visiting there doing recon, the laws started changing there too, the state has turned blue as well. Should have guessed the Californians fleeing there would turn it full retard as well. These people should NOT be allowed to breed.

Take it from someone who lived in Vegas for 7 years......Florida would be better.

Why is that? I love Florida women and weather much better than Vegas, but the property taxes, hurricanes and sink holes worry me...And it's not just one house that I'd be paying property taxes on. I pay 40K a year property taxes here in WA because I own rental properties....so yeah, the no state income tax is BS, real estate investors like me take it up the bubblegum here.
