Spent all day Saturday wallking various logging roads and cuts near North Bend yesterday, and nothing. Not even fresh sign. Didn't sound like anyone else got anything either, as we heard no shots all day, and there were lots of folks there. Went up to Stampede Pass this morning, and while there was some fresh sign, the weather was atrocious and we headed home after 11am. Will probably give North Bend another go on Wednesday or Thursday.

I shoot this rifle to more than double that distance when just long range target shooting steel, so this wasn't just some Hail Mary poke with Kentucky windage

Had to do a DOT physical yesterday morning.
But after that me and @Melmelhunter took a drive .
Took the long way home lol.
Darnington to Sedro Wholly.
Turns out it takes about 5 hours when you take the back roads.the blue line is our track.
We didn't see a thing. But got some nice site seeing in. PXL_20201017_203230872.MP.jpg PXL_20201017_203641218.MP.jpg Screenshot_2020-10-17_164837.jpg

I beat more brush yesterday than 6 days chasing elk with my bow. I enjoy the terrain much better in Eastern OR than in Western WA. ;) Jumped a couple but didn't see hide or hair.

I get back to the truck after 11 hrs in the woods and see that I have a $99 reminder that I forgot to hang my discovery pass.

Anyone come across a sign like this in the woods? Yellow caution tape across a motorcycle trail as well. What kind of crime takes place that WDFW closes a trail until 2021? Major poaching investigation maybe?

No hunting today. Had chores to do around the house. Went to run an errand around 6 tonight and one of the neighborhood youngsters is hanging out eating apples on the side of the road. Go figure.

Heading out today to set up camp. Was held back because the sis just had to visit me!
To pick up the AR you were helping her purchase?

Yep, talking with you, easy to tell you're the real deal in long range shooting.
Still wanting to go shooting with you at your spot.

That sure doesn't look like Western Washington (or left Washington, as I generally refer to it). Is your Remington a standard barrel, or a custom fast twist? I would be surprised if a standard twist barrel would stabilize that 103 gr ELD X bullet. And didn't all the smart shooters tell you that a .243 runs out of steam at much beyond 200 yards? (They forgot to tell my antelope buck that fell to a Speer 90 gr Deep Curl at 318 yards last fall, too. ;))
Congratulations on a very nice buck.

It's a factory Remington barrel. I believe Remington has them with a 1 in 9 1/4" twist. They stabilize well. My last steel plate is just a little past 1,400 yards and these bullets give good results even at that distance. I also had good results with 105gr. Berger VLD bullets. Though I don't recommend them for hunting

Me and @Melmelhunter .
Got to Republic WA .
Monday late afternoon hunted all day Tuesday Wednesday and this morning for five hours.
Saw two small mule bucks fork horns.
And lots of doe about 20 or more no shooter bucks.
We are on the way home but we stopped in twisp for the night and are going to hunt around here all day tomorrow. PXL_20201021_225038653.MP.jpg 25927.jpeg

Which GMU? I am in 364! And no luck :(. Surprised i have a cell signal.
If you're in WA, try Chiliwist unit 239. You want to increase your success rate? Be willing to hike more into the higher country away from general public. Use good bino's and I recommend a good spotting scope and tripod

We are going back to twisp on Tuesday morning.
So we can hunt Tuesday evening and all day Wednesday.
Those will be the last days I can hunt this season.
For deer anyway.
Then it's on to ducks.

Ok deer season is over for us unless we get to do a late season hunt.
NO DEER !
this was today in 239 area .
Snow on the ground stopped for lunch on the mountain.
We had @Melmelhunter granddaughter with us. We figured she always catches the first fish when we go fishing so maybe she can spot a big deer.
But anyway we had a good time trying to find THE ONE. PXL_20201028_203550622.MP.jpg PXL_20201028_203511160.MP.jpg PXL_20201028_203503859.MP.jpg
