Since so much of our current understanding of things is linked to the "constant speed of light", here's a fun little mind game to play with:
What if the speed of light, as it traverses deep space, is changing? Slowing down, stopping, speeding up?
What would that do to our calculations? To our estimates of interstellar distances, or estimates of the age of the universe?
And now, the wrinkle to this mind game: Suppose we could recreate conditions on Earth that would cause these changes in the speed of light?
Well...
Jerry Miculek is the speed of light.
