Join the #1 community for gun owners of the Northwest
We believe the 2nd Amendment is best defended through grass-roots organization, education, and advocacy centered around individual gun owners. It is our mission to encourage, organize, and support these efforts throughout Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Montana, and Wyoming.
Anyone know of an online site where I can find a visual chart for rifle and pistol calibers?
I occasionally end up with brass that I can't identify, so such would be very helpful.
It would really help if it also included the case measurements.
Much bettter for your purposes (and purposes you have yet to discover), would be to obtain a copy of the book, "Cartridges of the World", by Frank C. Barnes. Softcover, and easily found.
In my opinion, a copy of this book is indispensable to any firearm enthusiast.
It contains the history of each cartridge, dimensional drawings, factory ballistics and handloading recommendations. Sections and articles are devoted to precisely what you are talking about: identifying an unknown cartridge.
The newest edition is somewhat spendy, but used previous editions can be found for $5-$15. If you are remotely interested in guns and ammunition, it actually is a good educational read, cover to cover.
