What is the current level of bad news regarding bringing firearms into California. I was planning on bringing a Mini-14 with 10 round mags, stored unloaded in the trunk. It has a standard stock (no pistol grip or folder) or muzzle device.

That's legal to my understanding- correct?
I would call the cali state police . And find out exactly what you need to do.

There is actually no State Police in Cali, they were absorbed into the Highway Patrol years ago. Hint....don't call CHP for firearms advice. Law enforcement is prohibited from providing legal advice anyway. AG website is a starting point (it even has disclaimers that they do not provide legal advice).

The check at the border....it's only for produce! The 1911 and revolver advice is great. That's what I have at the moment.

Regarding the OP, you will really need to do your homework on this. The issue will be finding ALL of the laws the could apply to your gun. For example, the ammo laws (which have yet to take full effect), there are actually two conflicting laws that passed. Which one takes effect? Good luck determining.

There is lots of other Commie stuff and restrictions besides guns driving into Kommiefornika. The AG office website posts non legal stuff making it worserer. I quit going down there. Had to strip search myself and my baby SUV just to be legal THERE with stuff we enjoy every day HERE in Oregon.

AG "approved" lock boxes. My baby SUV has no trunk.

Let me tell you how bad it is. Have family and friends in Brookings OR. I live in Cave Junction. Still drive up, West and then down the OR coast INSTEAD of driving into and through just a small part of Kommiefornika. (Also hit the casinos along the way, but that is another story for another time.) :)

Respectfully. Just me. Many more restrictions than just guns. They want it that way. They want everybody to turn into sheeple. Easier to direct and cull the flock that way. Strange that I live just 30 minutes from the border. Kinda like going from East Berlin to West Berlin during the cold war. Yikes!

...and to think that some of you laff at the yUK and it's somewhat odd take on firearms.................. If I want to go to Scotland or Wales or Northern Ireland with a trunk-full of 100-round mags, I can. I can load my rifles with forend grips and as many flash-hiders as I can fit on it - OK, we ALL know that's just one per each, but still. And if I take a car with TWO trunks, like my old Porsche Boxster, I can fill it up with as much ammunition, reloading powder, bullets et al, as I can fit in it. I can even have a sound moderator on each and every one of my rifles, too, AND a bayonet, if I felt like it. And BTW, there are no border checks between any of these individual countries that make up the United Kingdom.

C********a is the state whose surgeon general has 'determined' that consuming a 30-inch long, 18-pound G scale model railroad locomotive 'might' cause injury to your unborn child.

'kaaaaaaaaaaaaaay.

Tac; Most of us would love to visit Cali as well as Yuk! But we don't.
Too much doin at home (like packing for Idaho)

Please don't forget... When entering the greater Los Angeles area from out of state it is customery to immediately go up to the first local citizen you come across and hand them your wallet. Bringing a firearm into the state kind of circumvents this custom which is why transporting a firearm into Califormia if very frowned upon!

Don't go to San Francisco. Note the immediate police and bystander response to this robbery.

Hopefully the criminal will be in jail or prison for a while. I would never do a camera inview with reporter either since she may be a target later on.

This the same city that aquitted an illegal immigrant of murdring Kathryn Steinle.

Totaly agree. Looking into moving out of this socialist bubblegumhole wannabe SeaTac. Lets hope there are still places left we can be Americans...not socialists.

You cannot bring any ammo into California. last time I went through the border check on I-5 they didn't ask about firearms but rhat was before that new law last year.

Also check out The Daily Shooter on YouTube. he has a lot of good California info.

i usually bring what I want . Isn't the check point for agriculture .I know years back it was closed, then reopened. Probably for new jobs in cali.

The ammo law did change. The actual dates may be spread out between importing across state lines and doing background checks. I thought it was between Jan-Jul 2018.
