I recently picked up a cool sporterized Springfield 1898. It has one sling swivel on the buttstock and a hole drilled on the lower handguard where it looks like one fell out.

Anyone recognize the manufacturer or model so I can find a matching replacement?

If you're not looking to keep the existing sling swivel, they do make slick QD setup in that style swivel where the detent release button is where you see the screw-head instead. They work quite nicely, and it would give the same basic appearance.
I'll definitely be keeping the existing one on there. The whole sporterizing job was done very well and in my opinion, is just as cool as an all-original (mostly because of the scope mount, I've never seen anything like it before):

I don't intend to do anything to it besides add a matching swivel and a sling correct for the period it was sporterized.

How wide is the strap?
Damn, I wish I had thought to measure. I just repacked the safe the other day and I don't have time to pull it out and re-tetris everything back in right now.

It's no less than an inch, maybe 1.25". I'll get an exact measurement and post it here at some point.

I am far from an expert, but that looks like it may have been a carbine from the get go.
Personally, I would look to replace that barrel band with one from a rifle that would have had a sling loop on it to start with.

Cool rifle, by the way.

If you can not find a match I have these. They are not recessed as yours are but are old. I'll never use them so if you want them let me know.

That's a very generous offer, thanks!

I'll keep looking for a bit and send you a PM if nothing comes up. If I take you up on the offer, we can work out a payment method for me to cover the shipping.

The three on the left of your photo do look pretty close.

The barrel band is pretty rusty, while none of the other parts are. This is a good suggestion - I'll keep it in mind as a backup option if I'm not happy with any of the swivels I find.

I just looked up the 1898 carbines, which I didn't realize existed until reading your comment, and I think you may be right! That would explain why the stock was cut so nicely, and makes me even happier to have it. Very neat.

Unfortunately that makes me more hesitant to swap barrel bands. I'd prefer to keep the original configuration and just fill in the missing sporter parts.

Barrel bands are easily changed. And you wouldn't be drilling another hole in the wood.

I looked in my parts bin and I might have part of what you need.
The swivel part that holds the sling is missing though. It was bent and coming loose so I bet I tossed it.
If you could find a suitable swivel that would fit this part you can have this if you want it. May not be perfect but might work.
