Video shows NRA head Wayne LaPierre struggling to kill wounded elephant. Seeing various "spins" on this all over the press. Not sure yet what the fallout will be.

Too bad the elephant couldn't fire back.

Looks like a Blaser R8 rifle to my eye.
( I do know something about those firearms that don't load from the muzzle.... )

IMHO, Mr. LP is shooting while the PH is saying wait.

Elephant goes down, perhaps a case of "better lucky than good".

Very poor trigger discipline.

Poor bolt cycling which also makes me think that they were using R8's.

Was it three shots he took at 7-10 yards which still failed to dispatch the elephant? At that time Makris dispatched the elephant. (I am ballistically stupid, but they were saying to "aim low", but at that distance I would think aim high?)

I would humbly submit that Mr. LP was woefully unprepared for this hunt.

Mrs. LP did drop jumbo at the first shot!!!

Cutting a tail is a old African hunting tradtion.

So something that happend 8 years ago is news to them, meanwhile my brothers are still getting killed in Afghanistan...sigh, I cant wait for civil war 2.0...and now a nice plate of fried catfish...
