I bought my saiga used, Ive been wondering why the handguard shakes on my 7.62. Now I see under thew bottom of the receiver where the handguard goes in, there is supposed to be a screw to lock it up right. What kind of screw holds the handguard in place for a saiga 7.62x39?

I'm not sure about the thread. Give me a day (I'll go to Ace tomorrow to confirm)

But The hand guard has a nut glued to the inside. I bet if you take that (The forearm and nut) into any hardware store they can check the thread. My suggestion is to replace the hand guard entirely with the DPH $139 tri rail but if the DPH rail is a little pricey for your Saiga I'd suggest the UTG quad rail or any of the other assorted rails. They vary in price.

I've yet to buy the DPH tri rail, But it looks to be good quality.
I'm waiting to buy it until I get my Saiga 16" .308 next week at the gun show. =]

Is this the screw you are asking about? If not pm me your
email and I will take and send pictures of any other area that
    would help.

Took out the screw and went to ACE Hardware, it is 5mmx10mm
ACE Part # 56202607 for a normal chrome screw that will work.
The sales person lost interest in helping me after he found out I
was only collecting information, they may have black? And yes mine
is 7.62x39. This photo is the screw on top of a 38 Spcl round.
