This could get interesting....And in a country that was once the 'pearl' of South America

The socialist leader of Venezuela announced in a speech to regime loyalists his plan to arm hundreds of thousands of supporters after a years-long campaign to confiscate civilian-owned guns.

"A gun for every militiaman!" Venezuelan president Nicolas Maduro said outside the presidential palace. The arming of Maduro's supporters comes five years after Venezuela's socialist regime outlawed the commercial sale and civilian ownership of firearms. The country recently doubled down on its gun ban through a combination of gun buybacks and confiscations in 2016.

As protests and unrest increase in Venezuela, Maduro has created a landscape where civilians are disarmed but his supporters are not.

In other words, civilians who find themselves fanboys of the socialist regime can now arm themselves and enjoy the title of militiamen. With a flick of the wrist, the president has officially made it so. Magic.

Venezuelan authorities, seized the GM plant a couple of days ago.

I was traveling in 2008 and had to go thru Caracus. After getting off plane, I had to leave the secure area, to check-in to my next flight to Miami, that was on a different carrier. 2 dudes grabbed me, and tried to carry me out of the airport. There were Venezualan Police less than 20 yards from me watching, and just smiling at me, not helping me at all, after about a solid minute of a wrestling match with these 2 dudes, they finally gave up and bolted for the exit. cops didnt help me at all,and i assume they were in on it., last time I ever went there,, never again.

It's so bad there now you have to stand in line to get your beating.

Maduro may regret poking GM and by extension, the Donald on this one. Although POTUS 45 might spin it to GM, "Well, bring those jobs back to "Murica". Though I am guessing the GM parts/vehicles are for the S. American market.

Could you just imagine the if Trump decided to do this with his supporters? The libs minds would be totally blown, it would be a massive primal scream like Wesley on "the Machine" in THE PRINCESS BRIDE.

BRUTUS OUT.

So it sounds like the Lefts Agenda.

Well, this is a familiar scenario. Perhaps they had mandatory registration...

Expect widespread genocide to happen in the not to distant future, that's typically the next step...

America, pay attention to this, this is what happens when socialists get out of control... Might want to rethink your future choices at the ballot box...

When my squadron and I were in Sicily for a NATO exercise in the mid 80s we went to a very good but way the heck out in the country Italian restaurant. There were about 10 of us, all commissioned naval officers. We basically had the joint to ourselves since it was mid week except for local one couple who ate and left.

Italian dinners are long affairs what with antipasto, ensalata, etc. Drinks were being had and one of our NFOs discovered they had ouzo...So Smoky, (his call sign) was getting lit as it were and getting a bit loud. In walk two Italian uniformed carabinieris...

Think state troopers, FBI, US Marshals, sheriffs all rolled in to one.

Well, these guys carry submachine guns EDC...so we are trying to get Smoky to throttle back a little. Boy, did we get some "ugly Americans" looks but we left a nice tip and got out of there in one piece.

Yeah BRUTUS, but the conservatives would fight that action to preserve everyone's civil rights. As we should!

Maybe we could work together with the snowflakes on that. You know storming the ramparts, hippies in the front ranks!
What do they call that? Oh yeah! A puppy rush! :D

Via Glenn:

THIS IS WHY, WHEN PEOPLE TRY TO CONFISCATE YOUR GUNS, YOU SHOULD PROBABLY JUST SHOOT THEM ON THE SPOT:Socialist Venezuelan Leader Steps Up Arming of Supporters After Outlawing, Confiscating Civilian Guns. Gun confiscation is never well-meaning.

Under one of the proposals in OR legislature, confiscatory powers would be given to anyone with a phone... your relatives, your neighbors, people that live in the next state but heard about you somewhere, somebody that didn't like your FB post, somebody that doesn't like your membership in NRA or NWFA, or even the POlice all on their own just because it's Tuesday.

a stretch, but yep. A relative calls the police "he has a gun and is acting strangely" woo woo woo blue light special at your house with dudes in black and maybe even a helicopter. You can still 'call cop' on someone today, at the risk of being charged with false report. Once there is a law allowing family to flag a family member, there won't be as much scrutiny as to the validity of the call. could just be a pissed off partner or spouse.

I think that's one of the hallmark signs of a communist/fascist regime. Everyone keeping tabs on everyone else, including family members.

The ability to get reported for thoughts, not actions, and for the state to take brutal action on those reported thoughts.

Khmer Rouge Cambodia, and Soviet era pop immediately to mind.

Actually for the hippies, it would be called the Forlorn Hope, or as we used to say in war gaming.. their unit would be what was called a soak off. Certain to be annihilated but used to block or control an area till you could bring your sledgehammer units to bear.

Yet another Marxist success story!

Like every other piece of crap Communist government, it has left the country in tatters. It isn't surprising that the dying regime is attempting to disarm the population; socialist pukes have been doing it for a long time. Here's hoping Venezuela can finally get past this period and rebuild.
