SALEM — A recall campaign against House Majority Leader Val Hoyle, a Eugene Democrat, has been accused of violating signature-gathering laws.

An elections complaint filed Thursday by Our Oregon, a Portland-based liberal political nonprofit group, centers on the collection of signatures on recall petitions at four gun stores in Hoyle's district, three in Eugene and one in Junction City. Because no signature gathering volunteers were observed at those locations by Our Oregon investigators, the complaint argues that all store employees present are considered paid signature gatherers under Oregon election law.
