"The worker, later identified as Hamzeh Abushariah, 33, of Washington D.C., opened the door to the salesroom and shot the weapon, hitting a suspect later identified to be a juvenile, according to the police department.

After talking to the Commonwealth's Attorney's Office, police say Abushariah was arrested and charged with Malicious Wounding, Reckless Handling of a Firearm and Violation of a Protective Order. He is currently being held without bond. "

A couple take away's from this. For one who knows if this "news" is even close to what happened. Also as GunSmoke said he may very well have been stupid enough to start talking instead of saying "lawyer". VERY often people just can not shut up when this happens. Also being charged is one thing. Getting a conviction is another. Many people are starting to see Police being told to not respond to crime as scum is being released from jails. If the people in power keep this up it may get hard to get a jury to convict.

While I don't have a problem with someone defending property with a gun, in the current state of affairs he is in a world of hurt as there doesn't APPEAR to be any threat of imminent danger, at least in this report.

"Violation of a Protective Order". It may be that he had been in trouble for perhaps a domestic violence situation in the past, and the courts possibly ordered him to not be in possession of firearms. Just one little thing can turn your world upside down. Just a theory.
