That article is a 18 months old. They've probably changed their minds already
I wonder what they're going to do with all their ACOGs.

Wow! $2200 a pop online for that VCOG.

Still wondering if surplus ACOGs will be sold off or mothballed
but you can get a Vortex version for about $550

I chose to go with a Vortex Strike Eagle 1-6 LPVO for my M27 - will send photos this week

and I invite any other Marines to send photos of their personal M27 or M27 semi-auto clone

I've been looking at the Vortex Strike Eagle LPVOs as John Mosby recommends them in his book "Guerilla Gunfighter 2: Preparedness Rifle and Carbine".

just got the Vortex 1x6 LPVO mounted on my M27 clone
note how the scope clears the rear USMC sight
piston drive with gas setting for suppressed
nickel/boron bolt
16" HBAR, free float
HK butt stock
H2 buffer/Tubb flat wire spring
15 deg pistol grip
LaRue QD bipod
KA front grip
Geissele trigger
Vickers combat sling
Vortex flash hider, suppressor ready

you can dump three 30 rnd mags, then drop the bolt out in your hand - no heat - no carbon build up

It has been going that direction for a while now. Optics are lot tougher than they use to be so it makes good sense. If I had the money I'd buy a solid LPVO for almost every one on my carbines and move their RDS into a back position.

MWI mounts are solid.
I like them better than ADM.

I have a 34mm 1.93" that uses 9/64" hex screws on the caps.
Out of all of the bit sets I have, only one had a 9/64" and it was a tamper proof.
Every allen key set I have has a 9/64" though.
For some reason it's skipped in the 1/4" bit sets I have.

I had to order a special #2.5 trox bit for my scope mounts
the bit set for my FAT tool only had #2.7 torx
