An original M1917 holster in very nice condition, the holster is free of dry rot and supple . It was issued to a soldier and carried in the field. The Soldier's name is marked on the holster but I could not get it to show up in the photo's . It is marked Geo. H Dyer Camp Grant Rockford Illinois . I did research the camp and discovered that Camp Grant was a camp in use to train soldiers during WWI and WWII . The camp was deactivated in 1946 and the Chicago International Airport now sits where the camp once stood.
This is a very very nice piece of WWI history, these original M1917 holsters in nice condition are much harder to find than M1916 holsters for the 1911 pistol are.
