Urgent Unscheduled Downtime Tonight - May 16th, 2014

We will be performing unscheduled maintenance on our server tonight, May 16th, 2014, beginning at 11:30PM. Downtime for NWFA is estimated to be between 30 minutes to 1 hour.

Prior to this downtime (possibly now) users may experience performance issues with the site. This unscheduled downtime is related to the growth we've continued to see over the past year, and the stress it's putting on our server.

Silver lining here, while we're down we will also be performing a software update. This will allow us to enable some of the features we had before (such as our collection of smilies!) and expanding the post quote functionality.

Thanks for all the hard work. BTW, I really like how these kind of alerts pop up... since you have to dismiss them they are much more apparent.

Ditto on the new alert. Is our ability to delete our own posts coming back? Sometimes I have to be my own moderator or just start again! Keep up the good work, Joe!

Thanks for the feedback guys. This is exactly what I meant when I said we had to make the jump to the new software before we could develop these new features. Now that the dust has settled we can get to the fun stuff, developing the features that people will actually like and find useful!

Still tweaking the alerts, but I like these much better so far. I'd like to make it so clicking the X dismisses the notice, right now it just closes it until the next session (can be confusing). I guess it could serve as a reminder though, maybe we'll keep it.

Re-evaluating permissions is on my to-do list.

I already got the feature that I asked for: being notified when someone quotes you in a post. Thanks.
