The Bill itself is so ominous, no one knows how it's going to be funded, who is going to do the teaching and they are laying it on the State Police that does not have the manpower or the money at this time. All are running around like chickens with their head cut off. The Dems are pushing so hard to get this into the system that no one has time to think.
Welcome to the NEW real world. It's going to be fun watching the courts on this one, except we are the ones that are going to be suffering due to waiting for the dust to settle.

Back when it was assumed that we actual had an election DAY and you couldn't vote after election day, and people could actually count, and they thought it important enough to do it quickly
Dragging out the vote tally is in the specific interest of one of the major political parties. It gives them room for maneuver if they see it's going to be a close vote against them. It gives them extra time to dredge up the number of votes needed to win. This is particularly valuable in states where this party has a well-dug in machine that has been in power for decades.

I'm not a conspiracy theorist, but a realist. Especially since the Christine Gregiore vs. Dino Rossi guvernatorial race in 2004.

Maybe right now they're all three meeting at a nice restaurant in Salem, discussing this issue and billing the dinner to the State taxpayers.

Then later tonight, they'll be all be cozyied up in a nice warm three seater comforter..definitely not the Holiday Inn.

Is bree chargeable on a State expense account ?
(Oh...never mind, that would be their decision wouldn't it)

Dec. 8th may be a moot date since the law suit has been filed to stop measure 114 now.

If they get a temporary injunction until the case can go to court we might have a reprieve from this nonsense.

You mean like when the outcome is close it always takes much longer to tally the ballots and in the end these races almost always swing in one direction?

Whaaaa? o_O

I think to get a prelim injunction the plaintiff has to show among other things they're likely to suffer irreparable harm if the injunction is denied, they're likely to prevail later on the merits of their actual claim, the equities favor them, and the public interest favors granting the preliminary injunction. The State might reply that there won't be "irreparable" harm -- just the "passage of time" (like VP Kamala Harris likes to say). But I'm sure other people can think of other types of harm and monetary damages that may arise if 114 becomes effective on December 8 and everyone (perhaps including me) are out of $$ but can't get their firearm (property).
Seems like just about any gun shop owner would qualify.

No, the measure states that local PDs and sheriffs will identify and certify trainers acting as agents of the OSP. So implementation could very well vary from county to county and locality to locality.

There are many things that will have to be accomplished before this measure can be implemented. A few that come to mind are:

1) Determine what information will be sought on the permit application.
2) Establish exactly what sort of investigation local PDs and sheriffs will conduct to determine if the applicant represents a threat to himself or the community. What information will be sought and from whom?
3) Establish uniform criteria for certification of instructors.
4) Develop a standard syllabus for the training program.

The state has advertised the position of coordinator for this process. Application deadline is not until Dec 7. Then they will have to go through the hiring process, establish a stakeholder committee, hold numerous meetings to accomplish the above and probably much more. Decisions of the committee will have to go through a review and approval process. None of this is going to be accomplished over night. Prepare for a long process.

Good points. And none of this implementation was considered by the backers of M114. Just a ridiculous and unworkable 30 day deadline. One of LEVO's selling points was they were putting out "reasonable" gun control measures. Having a situation where every citizen in the state is banned from purchasing a firearm for who knows how long is definitely not reasonable. Nor is putting many smaller firearm selling shops out of business. Funny how LEVO has been virtually silent on this whole fiasco.

LEVO has been silent because they seem to not exist any longer as a legal entity…. Strange huh?
