Now lay down on the floor and let the aggressor do whatever they want. IT'S THE LAW.

This being the case is there an established legal (or otherwise) rational for this seemingly 'pro aggressor' stance as opposed to a self-defense position? And what would be the specific advantage to the legal system by having it?

There would be no advantage. Our legal system, which is allowed to grow and adapt on its own in relation to these kinds of situations, has strong protections for self-defense, because a) it makes sense, b) it's fair and just, and c) it's the natural order of things.

I agree completely. I was just wondering if anyone knew of a specific legal justification for it.

Sad to say, but who amongst us doesn't think that one end of the political perspective (read the Nancy Pelosi nanny-staters and their ilk) doesn't hope to see this fulfilled here in the States one day as well. As goes Great Britain...
