A group of unarmed US Marines on board a high-speed train between Amsterdam and Paris foiled a terrorist attack after a gunman opened fire with an assault rifle, wounding three people.

The 26-year-old Moroccan national, who was known to security services, came out of the toilet brandishing the gun and opened fire. Fortunately, two US Marines were nearby and overpowered him before he could massacre passengers.

The suspected terrorist had at least nine full magazines of ammunition holding almost 200 rounds. He was also carrying a knife.

Unfortunately, one of the Marines was shot and is believed to be in a critical condition.

Heroes for sure.
I'm sure no medals will be given. Unless it's by the other country.

Good on you men for standing behind your commitment to fight evil wherever and whenever it surfaces. Protecting the innocent no matter what.

I pray for the injured and hope he makes a full recovery.

I hope they took the POS terrorist apart, you know, so ISIS can go oh poo!!! And, step up their training!
Blessings on these courageous men, especially the wounded one! We hope for a full recovery!:(

This really points out the problem with current military attitude toward medals and recognizing bravery.

It should not matter what the situation is. Any time a member of the armed services steps up and acts to save the lives of others, that action should be recognized the same as if it occurred during a time of declared war. Bravery is not a byproduct of political conflict. It is an act showing the true character of the person. That character is what is being recognized.

Honor to the soldiers who acted so bravely! :s0155::s0155::s0155::s0155::s0155::s0155:

Oregon Army National Guardsman Alek Skarlatos, 22, of Roseburg and his friend U.S. Air Force serviceman Spencer Stone were traveling on the high-speed train out of Amsterdam headed for Paris when they noticed a suspicious passenger and confronted him.

The man — identified as Sliman Hamzi, 26, of Morocco — was armed with a Kalashnikov assault rifle, a semi-automatic pistol and a knife. Three people were injured, including Stone.

It's ironic that what could have been a really nasty attack was stopped in a country that has very restrictive gun laws by people without guns. Seems that maybe there are better ways of safety than everyone running around with guns. The idea of a whole bunch of armed people on a packed train would be a nightmare as bad as the one that just happend (sic). Here in the U.S. the gun crowd would be pushing more guns to keep the evil shooters away.

This is the mentality that the liberals in this state spout. :(:rolleyes:

Thank God for their situational awareness, but how friggin awful.
To make it out of A-stan to try and decompress and you end up in a situation like that.
But if not for those men how high would the death toll been?
